We'll never win right wing voters to our side but we can win independents if we show our selves reasonable and balanced. Sure our side would like to see the right put into submission it'd be great , but with the independents they want to see co-operation and the vote you need to get a 2nd term. President Obama made a lot of powerful moves in his speech, but I can't see him exchange confrontation for sensible politics.

Joe Wilson willlikely get his censure at the ballot box and that will be the resounding message to respect the office.

And moderates either believe OR they believe (by passive osmosis) some of the right wing smears about socialism, death panels, etc. And again, as was pointed out in the video (did you watch it?), doing this makes it appear that Obama WAS lying.

So I strongly disagree with your argument here. Or at least I should say that while you might be right about the intent, I don't think the actions will yield the desired result, particularly in this case. And again (per the video), it sets a terrible precedent that could be very politically damaging, especially in the context of the Van Jones debacle.

It's submissive behavior, like what your dog does when she rolls on her back and pees on herself. It's wired into the brain far, far back in evolutionary history. And the louder you yell, the more submissive the behavior gets.
