1. The Fairness Doctrine won't help
Quick reminder: it's the OTHER side who are supposed to call our people jerks--remember?

The American Progress Action Fund has some information on why restoring the Fairness Doctrine won't help:

"Legislation that would singularly revive the Fairness Doctrine is misguided, failing to address the more important issue of media ownership. "Simply reinstating the Fairness Doctrine will do little to address the gap between conservative and progressive talk unless the underlying elements of the public trustee doctrine are enforced, in particular, the requirements of local accountability and the reasonable airing of important matters."

2. I strongly disagree...
Media consolidation began in earnest after the Fairness Doctrine was repealed. It meant that corporations could monopolize public opinion (in their favor) and that's precisely what they've done. When stations are required to air anti-corporate viewpoints, it decreases the value of station ownership. And based on the quote above, I think that American Progress doesn't really understand the Fairness Doctrine -- "local accountability and reasonable airing of important matters" is the heart and soul of the Fairness Doctrine. Restore it and you go along way toward returning the airwaves to the public

3. yeah, you're right. i need to march in LOCKSTEP with our dem leaders
like all the bushites march in lockstep with their dear leader.

bad me. expressing an opinion & speaking out. i'll try not to do that again.

i must remember: ALL DEMOCRATS ARE WONDERFUL. ALL DEMOCRATS CAN DO NO WRONG. I WILL AGREE WITH EVERYTHING THE MAJORITY OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS TO SAY. ESPECIALLY VOICES LIKE RAHM EMANUEL.

HAPPY NOW?
