1. Juan Williams is a total right-wing, sexist tool. Other than that, he's great. nt

4. He supported the nomination of Clarence Thomas because he had several
pending sexual harassment suits against him.

Start there and keep going...

Ever since the election, he's defended Pres. Obama and the administration nearly every time he's on and they're being attacked.

3. Well, even a broken clock is correct twice a day. Kudos to Williams for defending VP Biden.

Other than that, there's no way that the American People want to send 40,000 more troops. The real problem is that the civilian contractors outnumber the military in Afghanistan and THEY want protection.

Follow the money!

14. Exactly right....
Follow the money, if we stay in , a lot of people will profit more , if we withdraw,
well contracts will be lost , and no more money, these "generals " are being pressured
to keep the money flowing buy saying that they need more troops.
Who is paying attention to this part ?

18. Remember, Cap'n, BEFORE, when he wasn't?
He was (and is) smart and intelligent, and certainly here, he's correct. And damn wallace for mocking him.

He's been called Fox's 'liberal.' There was an incident I haven't yet recalled, when he left/had to leave WaPo, eh?

23. It's natural that Fox's conservatives treat the Fox News liberals with open contempt.
They're there to be beaten, to make the conservative line look more persuasive by providing only a weak liberal opposition. They're patsies--and it's hard to respect a patsy. Alan Colmes and Kirsten Powers fall into the same category.

6. Everyone from fox throws the administration a crumb every now and then.
But only a crumb.
The republican argument gets the remainder of the cake.
I think they do it just so they can say "Hey I stood up for _____ on ______". You know, So they can try to sell the Fair and Balanced nonsense. :eyes:

7. I can't believe it. I actually agree with something Juan Williams said on Fox. I must have
a fever.

Krauthammer: "McChrystal, Mullen, Petraeus all want more troops in Afghanistan." My god, who could have imagined that those guys would want to ESCALATE A WAR??

26. Generals career path into industry
As Congressmen become lobbyists, military officers become War industry execs. Perhaps delaying full-bird and up military pensions by 2 years for every post retirement year working as part of a defense contracting organization might modify some of the advocacy positions, or it might just raise salaries.

8. Williams agreed the surge worked?
No it didn't; typical Bush propaganda line. The fighting spiraled down because the formerly mixed Sunni-Shi'ite neighborhoods became segregated, leading to a drastic reduction in intra-neighborhood violence. I wish these idiot tv pundits would grow a brain and stop reading Bush administration press releases.

11. In general agreement w/you, BUT...
Edited on Sun Sep-27-09 05:58 PM by liam_laddie
in Anbar province (the focus of the propaganda that the "surge" worked) the MAIN reason "it worked" is because we paid (bribed?) 100,000 Sunni fighters $300/month each to stand down. That's $30 million/month, $360 million/yr., relatively a bargain, IMO. Especially when compared to the nine billion dollars or more of our national treasure which has been "misplaced." Any other explanation in pure Bush bullshit. Do I have any dissenters? If so, please provide an alternative narrative...

And every American life lost in the war devastates another American family somewhere and rips apart young families.

You give them far too much credit. They simply do not give a fuck. These chicken hawk types have been sending soldiers to their deaths for a long time.

27. The surge "turned things around" in Iraq?
And I'm supposed to lend these goniffs any credibility whatsoever? What the surge did was get lots more people killed. To the degree that Iraq is somewhat less unstable than it was one or two years ago, it is because opponents on all sides have shot their bolt and cannot sustain the same level of violence -- except in spurts. Impossible political combinations have fallen apart and logical political/tribal combinations have come together, just as they would have without the surge.

We've got to be careful or these fucktards are going to leave history with the impression that George Bush "won" the Iraq war. Now wouldn't that be a painful irony?
