3. First thing that struck me too.

Life imitating art imitating life. Reminds me of the audience's response to Robert de Niro (Rupert Putkin) in "King of Comedy" when he announces to the audience he has the regular host (Jerry Lewis) kidnapped and tied up in order to get on the air.

6.  MrObama
MrObama

At least he doesn't say "I have not had sex with that woman" on national TV.... And even that he might have had a bad taste to defuse it, he defused both the sex thing, and the fact that the right wingers in the US wanted to tear that man down to the ground...

Was he in the wrong, absolutely yes. And I guess it will be a reckoning for him home on this case in some sort of others.. But this is really a private matter between Mr and Ms Letterman, not a public matter between Mr Letterman and the rest of the world..

8. Fascinating isn't it?
Cripes, if I never had sex with women I worked with, I would hardly have sex at all.
  • We're busy people.
  • It's convenient.
  • A lot of women like to have sex.
  • A lot of women would like to have sex with Letterman.
  • Shit happens.

10. Why did he start out saying - I have a story to tell
If I was in the audience - I would have assumed the "story" was just for laughs (I assume, after a few seconds, I would have understood it was real):freak:

11. Guess I am a little more open minded regarding Dave's sex than some of the self righteous,
moralistic, judgmental, conservatively right leaning posts that I have read on hear regarding this issue by posters who you would assume to be so called liberals, since they are posting their opinions on DU.

I would assume that these women that Dave had sex with were over the age of 18 and had free will.

I have never heard Dave claim himself or set himself up as a role model or as being akin to Jesus Christ in any way, the way Republicans seem to like to do.

The only problem that I see in all of this is if he used his position of authority to coerce sex in any way. There is absolutely no evidence of that and my own opinion is that is highly unlikely.

So you folks that just can't get over the fact that as humans we have sex, you need to get over it.

This place is strange at times.

13. the real question to me, is, HOW did this guy come by this information?
and did he actually break into Letterman's car to drop off the package?

I assume the trouble that dave could get into is whether it was sexual harrassment, consensual and out of the bounds of marriage. (he was single for a long time before marrying, its not clear whether these incidents were before or after the marriage.)

I also don't understand the low amount of money. Presuming he DID make a movie, that deal in and of itself would be more than 2 million.

just weird. I guess we'll find out eventually.

14. I bet Johnny Carson is rolling over in his grave.
Can you imagine the old Hollywood folks apologizing for having sex. Sex...the the drive that runs the industry. Thanks for the message Dave you were more than informative.

and put him away for a long while.

Meanwhile, the title of this video is pure crap.
MrObama, and you could have changed it or been more selective.

It is not a scandal for humans to have sex.
And this is not a confession, it is a report of facts.

Hopefully, the other blackmail victims, Dave's female friends,
will have their privacy protected if they so wish.

A last word. It is inappropriate to post a photo of Dave's family on this forum.
It is disrespectful of their privacy, kind of like the blackmailer's behavior was.

16. Can we exit the Victorian era soon?
Wow. A celebrity has had sex out of marriage. *yawn* So what's new?
This story might have some substance if Letterman forced himself on some helpless woman, or engaged in statutory rape. To my knowledge it was consensual sex between adults, albeit outside of marriage. So why do these stories still make headlines? Humanity doesn't mate for life, and sexual activity is fun, especially if it's with a celebrity we give a shit about. Can we please move past our Victorian-era "expectations" for human sexuality? Please?

17. In context: Afghanistan, Iraq, health care, Palestine, Samoa, Indonesia
Honduras. He's an entertainer for Pete's sake and it seem this affects Mr Letterman, Ms. Letterman, multiple production staffers, and the slimy proto FOX reporter from CBS on a level that is pretty freaking intense and totaly inconsequential to you and me. He coulda put a bomb in the car, too.

Did he use tax dollars to fund his sexual escapades?
Did he leave his state at risk by disappearing and lying about his whereabouts?

No? Looks like I dont give a shit.

20. Well I don't care if he had sex or not, I just wish he'd keep that to himself.
Because when I watch a TV show, I want to be entertained. I could give a rats ass about their personal life. There is nothing worse than a buzzkill when your trying to get a laugh.
