1. Moore is well prepared for the Fox ambush.
Like a martial artist he throws his opponent into the pit.

18. Moore and Hannity are both blind
Both Moore and Hannity let their prejudices get in the way of the facts. First it was not just poor or rich people or bankers who created the economic mess. It was everyone. Poor and rich speculated. All were wanted to do what was common in California, Nevada, and similar states: buy a house and flip it fast for a quick profit. Bankers went along for their commissions because they new they could flip the house over to Lehman or Citi of AIG. So this was common greed. And the reality: it was engineered by Greenspan about 17 years ago when he started artificially lowering rates to encourage people to use their home as a personal piggy bank.

2. Moore is so sharp.
I loved when he asked how many of the audience knew that people like himself and Hannity didn't pay into social security on over 110,000. And Hannity said "they all know that." Right.

but it never registered. And when I had heard it, I figured it had to be a mistake.

19. Increasing SS holdings a back door tax increase
Moore is totally off based to say we should pay SS taxes on all of our income unless we acknowledge what Social Security has become: a back door way of funding all government programs because politicians for decades have raided the "lock box." I can honestly say, as a middle income wage earner, I hate these increases every year when they take more and more social security taxes out of my paycheck. Over the years its a big expense and that employers do not take into account when they figure cost of living pay increases. It is particularly disheartening to keep paying for these increases when I seriously doubt I will see a dime of Social Security by the time I am retirement age.

We can hold to our progressive ideals without giving the government the lions share of what we earn! Come on people. I work for the government. I see every day the incredible waste that goes on. What needs to happen is BO needs to clean up the waste so that we can use the money saved to pay for progressive causes like health care and a cleaner environment. If he doesn't do that then he cannot succeed because their is not enough money in this country to advance our causes and keep our economy strong. Now I do not make near the salary Hannity does; I do not even make $200K a year. But between property taxes, sales taxes and income taxes more than 27% goes to government. That's a whole lot when you consider how expensive everything is now days. So we don't need to be paying more taxes -- at least those making under $250K a year as Obama stated during the campaign. What we must do is reduce the waste, and I can tell you there is a mind blowing amount of waste in the three programs I have had the most contact with: Medicare, Social Security disability and defense spending.

Even forgetting advancing progressive causes, we cannot continue this waste because we cannot continue the deficit spending if we are to have a good economy. Have you seen the spectacular fall of the dollar the past 10 months. Every time we decide to deficit spend more, the dollar goes down a little more in value. We have to get a handle on this waste or we will push ourselves into economic oblivion. Think about it. In 2000 the Chinese loan the US govt no telling home many billions. In 2009 their are paid that money back, with interest, but the dollar is only worth 60-70% of what it was in 2000! These people who invest in T bills are not stupid. They will quit buying them eventually and then when that happens what are we going to do? Our country is turning into a person who is like a credit card abuser: we max out one card, we transfer the balance to another, and then we max out both cards. We cannot keep doing that. We have to get our economic house in order. If we don't, then not only will our progressive causes go down the tubes, but our country will too! Furthermore, we cannot just say: raise taxes on the rich. We can do that to an extent but remember the US isn't the only game in town. Eventually, the rich will just invest their money outside America. Also, we have a serious unemployment problem. The rich are the people who create most jobs. If we raise taxes on them too much they will hunker down and not create jobs. So we have to be smart about how we approach this problem. We cannot be dogmatic to our ideology like Moore is. We have to be realistic and most important of all, we have to get this waste under control.

So we can still admire President Obama and heavily influence the legislation, a win win all round. Media will always get to some folks to influence their vote but get a Grayson like senate and the rules change. One Republican senator did say they wanted some outladish figure like 83 or something like that, OK you want it you got bub bye.

4. hannity really exposed himself as the problem.
hannity really exposed himself as the problem.
He also lied in numerous occasions.

he said he pays 60% in tax. thats a crock.

he also had cameras take pictures of an abandoned hospital to make cubas hospitals look bad. He had them throw a couple of shots from a different cleaner hospital in the middle to fool the weak-minded (fox news watchers).

Edited on Sat Oct-10-09 10:46 AM by nytemare
They go to some hospital that's been abandoned for 15 years, then they cut in with two patients, then back to the old hospital, and Hannity didn't even ponder once that the footage might not be from where he was told it was from.

I loved Moore's response.

20. Moore did a good job criticizing Hannity's hospital tape
I don't know if that was a real hospital or not, but Hannity should have done a better job investigating that the hospital shown on the tape was authentic. Moore did a good job criticizing that tape. That said, I would rather go to a public hospital in the States than a Cuban facility, but that is just my bias because I have no idea what kind of training, if any, Cuban doctors have.

11. 60% on taxes?
Nassau county (one county over from mine) has high property taxes. Sean doesn't HAVE to live there, that is his choice. If he lives in a spacious new house, then he will be paying thru the nose. Taxes in a nice area on a 2k sq ft home could be 18k on up. He works in the city, so he'll have to pay city taxes on that (I believe). So, yes in his eyes, he is heavily taxed. BUT we are talking about increasing FEDERAL taxes only (forget the local taxes). Nassau's property tax rates are crazy and NOT the norm.
Should people making over $110k keep on contributing to SS? YES!! I'm one of them and YES - it isn't THAT much out of each pay check, and if it's for the greater good then YES!!! BTW, I never knew about this until we got a "raise" part way thru the year, then I figured it out.

15. No wonder I never watch Fox. But Michael did great !
Hannity does lie through his teeth. Run a lie and when challenged, run the next lie.

And that question about do you wanna go to Sloan Kettering, the Mayo Clinic or some hospital in Cuba? Come on!-- as though that would answer all the questions.

Glad Michael reminded him that millions of us couldn't get in to those prestigious clinics.

And I'm glad Michael mocked the Fox Video of the abandoned hospital-- lookie dirt and grime-- lookie toilet -- glad Michael kept looking for the doctors and nurses.

27. I wonder why Hannity would even try a stunt like that.
Moore would never have fallen for it!

We don't even know if that "hospital" was in Cuba! I love it when the MSM portray Cuba as a severely poverty-stricken country when most of the other Latin American countries, who have capitalist economic systems, have probably fared worse.
