O'Reilly Debates Atheist Richard Dawkins, Calls His View Of How To Teach Science "Fascism" (VIDEO)

One might have expected fireworks when Fox News host Bill O'Reilly interviewed avowed atheist Richard Dawkins on his show the other night, but the two men managed to have a remarkably even-tempered debate despite the contentious nature of the subject under discussion.

"I believe in creative design, I believe in evolution, but I think it was overseen by a higher power," O'Reilly said at the opening, noting that scientists "still haven't figured out how it all began."

"It's a most of extraordinary piece of warped logic to say because science can't answer a particular question you're going throw in your lot with Jesus," Dawkins responded.

The argument went on from there, with O'Reilly at one point suggesting that Dawkins' argument for how science should be taught in school was equivalent to fascism.

1. So, Richard Dawkins was discussing evolution but Bill O'Reilly was talking about what?
Interior decorating? Advertising graphics? Creative design?

5. O'Reilly is such a dullard!
I would be embarrassed to be so ignorant, but I suppose that is part of the problem. Billo is too dim to realize how dim he really is.

6. These people love to use that word "fascism".
They don't care what it means, they just throw it out there as a label for anything they disagree with.

10. And the difference??
And what has really changed today?? People still kill others over religion. Most have forgotten what the base of religion is. Love, tolerance, respect, to be all one can be without destroying others.

18. It's getting worse imo.
They are even in the process of rewriting the bible to turn 'liberals' into God's enemy. Oh, and 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' to 'Do not commit murder.'

The mindset may be no different, but the toys are ever so much more deadly.

12.  OREILLY is a pompous ass
Edited on Sat Oct-10-09 05:04 PM by AsahinaKimi
It might have been a waste of time going on THE FACTOR.. because all O'reilly wanted to was paint a target on another one of "those atheists"..and try to prove him wrong to the Fox Family audience ... He never intended to listen to anything that was said.. He just wanted to SHOUT over it and make his brownie points with the Fox Viewers. I could see the Frustration on Richard Dawkins face,..He was probably wondering why he even chose to go there and plug his book..

13. Wasn't it convenient...
That there seemed to be lots of cuts just before his answers? A slight disjoint between when the question was asked and when Richard Dawkins answered?

14. WTF...
O'Reilly should have said Dr. Dawkins not Mr. Dawkins. How condescending can one be. What a complete ass.

...with your post's title.

- Because you can't have a "debate" when one of the opponents is a half-wit.

19. Why did Richard Dawkins even agree to come on Billo for?
Billo is not going to change his mind. All he wants to do is start an argument with a guest so his ratings will go up.
