1. This teabagger thought he was gonna give Matthews a 'lights out' but he swung wild
Edited on Sat Oct-17-09 05:14 AM by tomm2thumbs

There were so many instances were Matthews could have jumped even further on the guy, like when he said 'it's not the fact that we're racist or rednecks' even though Chris never even mentioned race at all, and he said specifically he voted for Bush in 2004 and then lied and said 'I didn't vote for him the last time'. Then when Chris said the formula he is suggesting didn't work for Hoover, he basically says 'I don't know anything about the Hoover years' but immediately starts spitting out statistics on the Hoover years against FDR to try and make his point.

Two faced liars never prosper. I wished Chris had held him more accountable for it all but I think he wanted everyone to use their own common sense and see the guy for what he was. A buffoon.

7. Chris tries not to totally eviscerate his guests, I have noticed
It can be frustrating to watch because at home I am waiting for him to give the final thrust.

Instead, he backs off, thanks the guy for coming on, etc. It is nice that he is respectful, and he might have trouble getting people to go on his show if he ripped them to total shreds.

3. Look at Phillip's face at the 4 min mark
After Phillip states that he voted for Bush twice and Chris Matthews recites the Bush record on deficit spending the look on his face is priceless. You almost see Phillip thinking "Holy moly, I am inconsistent."

6. Everything changes once the lying starts.
The lying started when his lips began to move. With Republicans it's both reflexive and pathological. That's why I refuse to talk to them; and if I have to, it's very brief.

8. For a change
I liked this Matthews interview. Chris didn't constantly talk over him, he just made him look like the idiot he was. I wish he would do more like this.

10. Yep - even Austin is getting ugly. Corporate town, souless and
the next houston/dfw. Music capital of the world is quickly being turned into just another McDonalds style corporate marketing slogan. Downtown is nothing but high priced condos pushing out culture and style and replacing it with shopping mall-like artificial bullshit. The people who made Austin fun are too scary for someone paying $250,000 for a 1100 sq ft condo. So out they go.

Perhaps the most hilarious thing is the famous "noise" ordinance, allowing these new condo owners to shut down a venue with huge fines because their outdoor music is too loud. These are venues that have been around for 20 or 30 years or more. One by one these great venues are getting shut down by "hipsters" and their ice cold hearts. They want to live in a hip place but make no contributions to the city other than to buy groceries at whole foods. And that's how they think they are saving the world.

19. They stopped building and we are left with rusting skeletons
They'll be an eyesore for years. Just like boom to bust last time. Texas gives them all sorts of incentives, builders promise everything, deliver almost nothing and tax payers foot the bill to clean up the mess.

11. I'm trying to figure out, cut who's taxes. If it's big business he can kiss my ass.
If it's our taxes, Obama did do that, so moving on. Tweety didn't even catch him on that.

15. good catch- i bet he didn't even know that Obama cut his taxes.
he's just repeating stealth corporate talking points that he and his fellow teabaggers have been brainwashed to believe is about "freedom and liberty" when it's really all about continuing corporate domination of our lives. The ONE thing i started to agree with him on was the off-shoring of jobs/businesses- but ironically that action stems from an ideology that he says he supports- free enterprise/free markets with limited or no government restrictions and oversight. you can't have it both ways. He said nothing about the free market that allows them to evade corporate taxes by opening a mailbox on the Cayman Islands- argument FAIL. If you scratch below the surface of their arguments, they got nothing. Tweety tore him apart.

12. These people that say FDR extended the depression make me sick.
They never mention the Dust Bowl years. This was a severe blow to the employment situation in this country, not to mention the food supply. Europe did not have that major problem to deal with. I hate it when lame talking points get spouted by idiots who slept through their History classes.

17. T-bagger talking points don't stand up to scrutiny. They fall back on their cliche's
"cut taxes (Obama cut your taxes dude), reduce the size of government(every economist says we can't do this facing a depression), protect our borders(so expand government to build more multi-billion dollar fences and hire government rangers to patrol the border?), and more freedom and liberty (what they want is freedom from any shared responsibility to society).

sounds just like a mainstream Republican to me- you had your chance- FAIL. Now pick up a mop and stop complaining.

13. "overeducated and undersmart" lol! this guy is misundereducated.
Tea baggers don't have a clue about history or economics and are total hypocrites- blaming obama for something he had to do because of bush's failed policies- and Matthews called him on it. Gets cornered in an argument he doesn't have a clue about, distances himself from Bush and goes to the cliche generic teabagger answers "cut taxes" "reduce the size of government" "protect our borders" and "more liberty and freedom".

Send him a mop!

20. It is funny how they all now claim that Bush's spending really pissed them off. Yet they can't
explain why they weren't waving Teabags and calling Bush a Socialist Communist Nazi anytime between 2000 and 2009.
