Beck is trying to dog whistle his followers into 'doing the right thing'. You can take that as you want, but I know what I think he means and if he were a man, HE'D 'do the right thing' and leave the TV and run for Governor of Texas. bwahahahahahaha

He's calling to action all these racist extremists to wage war on Obama and possibly people of color. That football ad made me wonder if he was implying that the good old days were when black men were designated to the football fields rather than being in positions of leadership and control. He's crying because the good old boy tradition in America is being overtaken by a modern multi-cultural progressive society. This is what this whole thing is about with these racist republicans. A threat to the white male power structure. They can't accept that we live in a New America that's more in tune to the global society.

Yeah, right. Nukes aimed at us. The threat of utter annihilation. But, maybe on one level, he's got it right. Back then, it only took one bread winner to support the family. Sure, wifey was downing Valium like M&M's, but, a house payment was less than a fourth of your salary instead of over half. Health insurance was a token amount taken out of your paycheck. I remember our janitor in elementary school, Willie; he had a nice little house with a half dozen little Willies all over it. Try doing that on a janitor's salary today. My Dad was a plumber in town. We're Mexican-Americans, but we were doing much better than the othe Latinos in town since we didn't have to labor in any fields or migrate. My Dad was the only plumber the town had. Since there were seven of us, my Mom cleaned house on Mondays for two Anglo families. Today, it takes two breadwinners to survive; childcare for my son's two kids costs him $900.00 a month; his health insurance is $1,400 a month. That doesn't even cover all the other monthly costs of surviving, as we all know. But, our lachrymose Glenn wasn't talking about that was he? He's talking about how "moral" we all were somehow in the 50s. Cry you a river, Glenn! The things he thinks were better were just the same as they've always been. We just went from being a capitalist society to being a corporatist one. A corporate society that pays Glenn a very good salary to brainwash his ignorant viewers into thinking that they are not a part of the corporate Matrix.

Watergate, the first govrnment loans to an auto company, the rise of a cocaine epidemic, the first oil embargo and record windfall profits (which were taxed and under a Republican administration), our first strong relationship with Sadam and he had won a medal of freedom from the US and he got some sort of award from the UN over literacy and public health in Iraq. Charlie Manson. I mean, how could Glen NOT be nostalgic. SLA shootout. Heck, them were the days.
