1. Lizz does a smackdown, for sure.
Edited on Sun Oct-18-09 12:12 PM by krkaufman
Not sure she'll be seeing much more time on 'The Ed Show' after that.

edit: Or maybe not. Is this her regular ombudsman schtick on 'Club Ed'?

2. Thank you for posting this
Ed has been awful on this story.
His audience doesn't give a flying fist f_ck about the Balloon boy. We knew it was a hoax.
Just get back to politics.:eyes:
I must admit that I'm not the biggest Ed fan and I think if he wasn't on opposite of Lou Dobbs his shows ratings would half..

5. Correcto Az.
In a world of cheap, sound-bite politics, Ed is very much at home. He's the only thing the left has that approaches Rush, yet he is necessary. It just stands to reason that the types who gravitate to Rush could just as easily gravitate to Ed. Schultz and Olberman: both ex-sportscasters.

7. Has anyone heard about GE selling MSNBC? If so who would the puppett masters be?
Edited on Sun Oct-18-09 04:02 PM by 1776Forever
Makes you think maybe Ed was trying to be a little more "HLN" like. I think they do have enormous ratings.

Does anyone think Rupert may be lurking around the corner?

I heard this speculation on Morning Joe on Friday but hadn't had a chance to post it.

???????? Hmmmmmmm - Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Report on it here:

Should Comcast and NBC Universal do a deal?
Posted Oct 1st 2009 8:50AM by Steven Mallas

Is Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) getting ready to buy General Electric's (NYSE: GE) NBC Universal? Hard to say. According to our sister site DailyFinance, it looks like the rumor of this theoretical event might be just that -- a rumor, nothing more. Then again, maybe there's something to it.

It seems likely, though, that Comcast does want to clinch a deal with some big media company. Remember when Comcast wanted to buy Disney (NYSE: DIS)? Quite frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up taking NBC Universal off GE's corporate hands. But which group of shareholders would this benefit the most?......

9. The only thing sillier than wasting an entire show on Balloon Boy
is wasting the entire next show for defending his decision.

I think he enjoyed the spanking. She can spank me too if she likes.

11. Good!
Ed's been consistently on-message with HCR, it's surprising he was dazzled by an actual shiny object.

"But the whole world is talking about this" Uh, no Ed. Only American media are.

C'mon, Ed. Don't fall for the distractions.

13. Uh oh. Ed's becoming a beltway type. Very scary. These guys get so wrapped up in the
stories their media masters designate as "newsworthy" that they forget what is really important and newsworthy.

Thank you, Liz, for what was a very rational and lucid and funny takedown. Ed needed it.

P.S. I suspect that he may have gotten a LOT of unhappy calls and emails due to that bit of brainfarting.
