Alan Grayson discusses the historic passage of today's health care bill.

---- --- ----

I have to admit to being torn in two about this.

1. Thanks, I figured Grayson would
have the vision to see how much good this will do. He certainly worked hard for it.

2. It may not be ideal.
But it's a step in the right direction at least!
Now if we can get people to realize they are poisoning themselves with their crappy diets, a lot of us wont ever need much healthcare!

3. I'm not sure I believe him
It sounds like we are getting a few common sense regulations packaged as some historic game changing bill. Where are the price controls?

12. Glad to hear it
It does feel like a lonely view when the line has been firmly drawn in the sand for most posters on DU.

5. Yea. I think he was being a good sport. But you know he is right. For those who have, they will
finally have more. And it will save lives.

But for those of us who don't have, nothing changes.
They still can't afford insurance.
So this is not a right, it is a privilege for the privileged.
Congrats on your success. Now bring it home to the rest of
us.

6. Imagine
if we had even 20 more like him in the House. Fearless, truth-teller.

I know he wants more, but he'll continue to work hard. Hope he's around a long time - good going, Florida.

8. I'm with you on that sentiment
Grayson seems to be the stubborn type and that's exactly what we need. I hope he's stubborn enough to not let health care reform end with this bill.

helpless to go on gun shooting sprees(with the shooting this week a separate issue). This bill won't just save lives medically but psychologically. It takes us down the road where once the fear has gone people who are not that politically involved can afford time to think about wider issues. Possibly even consider that if government can do this how much more can it offer. This bill has to get done for a myriad of reasons, either in conference or as operate bill we can work to embolden women's freedom of choice, but we have got to get HCR out the door.

10. Grayson and the rest of Congress are holding the lives of some of the poor
hostage to extort Billions more for Insurance and PhRMA interests.

This isn't a binary choice. This bill sucks and it is not acceptable. Don't cave to this extortion, demand genuine reform! Accepting this will greatly delay saving even more lives.

What would the difference in lives saved be between this bill, and opening up Medicare for all. Why is Congress sacrificing those lives? Because only about five of them work for us, the rest work only to preserve heir own power. If we let them keep that power after this performance we are stupid, and deserve what we get.
