They just throw anything out there, knowing that a percentage of the listeners will believe it.

I think it often puts their opponents at a disadvantage. Whenever debating someone, you try to anticipate some or all of their major talking points so you can rebut it with facts and data. Often, these radical conservatives will throw out something so off-the-wall ridiculous you can't rebut it, and because of it, they often scored points in the debate in the eyes of some.

They substitute bigotry for reasoning.

Except, of course, when their own lives depend on logical thinking.
Then their IQ immediately jumps 50 points (to about 80).

I find it fascinating. So it appears that we actually CAN
"reason" with such people, but only when their lives
depend on them engaging in rational and critical thinking.
