6. Very funny, and close to the way I think it happened
I think that couple are adept at schmoozing and making it appear they are great friends with somebody. So Joe might have seen them with Desiree and Desiree saw them with Joe and the Secret Service saw them with both, and it looked to everybody like they were meant to be there.

We all have a friend or friends who never want to pay cover charges, never want to pay full price for meals in restaurants, and always have some get-rich-quick scheme up their sleeves. These are THOSE people. Ignore them and they'll go away.
