Pay investors 3.8% on 10 year Treasuries.
Lend at 8 or 9% variable (tied to the 10 year).
The American citizen is freed from national bank usury and the government makes billions.
Government can be insured by using the IRS to collect on delinquent accounts.
It's win/win for the government and the people.

But a "public option" in banking is about as likely as snow in July, considering what we just saw in the HC debacle.

Solving problems is often simple, but rarely easy, given Wall Streets ownership of the Senate.
