Celente has a good track record. He thinks the worst of the collapse will happen this year. Definitely something to keep in the back of your mind.

this case. Doesn't it.

Then I will use the some approach:" Celente will be caught having sex with farm animals, while he and Beck are tag teaming a goat." There, I just pulled something out of my ass and since it may or may not happen in the future, I am not technically neither right nor wrong. It is, however, something I would love to hear someday (as long as farm animals are not traumatized in the process) ergo it must be correct, since my personal point of view equals reality as a whole I guess.

The question here is that Celente is one of the main go-to guys from FOX to wipe the teabaggers into a mouth foam frenzy, because just like you they agree with everything he says. Now the question is: why do you agree with the tea baggers, riddle me that... maybe the whole "arm yourselves, stimulus is baaad, the shit won't hit the fan until the Dems are in charge... so forget about the 2008 meltdown" BS was not enough of a clue?

Although I must say, I got a hoot about having to "put up" while a charlatan "psychic" gets automatic validation. LOL And that is why fools fall every time for these charlatans, because they can't predict the future but they sure can say exactly what they clientele wants to hear.

Precisely.

"Trend Forecaster"???? What the hell is that? Nothing.

One cannot predict the future of complicated events.

Though he may say things that are seemingly inevitable.... this "news of the future" stuff we see ALL THE TIME is not anything to get excited about. (Remember all the "Hillary in 2008" stuff that started in 2004?!) It's usually frightening forecasts so ... be afraid!

Note what he says if it seems logical to you but don't lose any sleep over it. What did he say that was wrong?

I mean... did they arm themselves and run for the hills in the 1930's? Just how many did that in the 80's (which was nothing like a rock bottom depression)? If the US economy is doing bad, then it will no doubt cause a downturn in other big markets. But did the Euro nearly collapse and had to be propped up or die? There was some secret emergency measure taken by Chinese, Indian, European banks? That we don't know about?

It's hard to judge whether speculation is wrong (can it be wrong?) but...

We're gonna HAVE to rip up our lawns and grow our own food? Next year! C'mon! Arm yourself to protect your tomatoes!!!! :eyes: That's enough listening for me.

Nothing is working. Arm yourself! Obama's plan is a failure!

Sound familiar?

Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 04:30 PM by liberation
Now the problem is why does a batshit insane libertarian "psychic" get such validation in a site like DU? I find that frightening.

Funny how this jackass can only "predict" things that have already happened, or right when they are all just too obvious and evident. I mean, it must have taken a "genius" in late 2007 and early 2008 to figure out the banks were in trouble, none of us had a clue anything was wrong with the economy then... right? LOL

His whole survivalist spiel reads exactly like the wet dream libertarians have been having since the beginning. And it makes perfect sense for a bunch of anti social types, like the libertarians, to advocate for the destruction of society every chance they get. Too bad they don't realize they are just too chicken shit (and have been coasting on the mercy of others) to figure out that they should be weary of what they wish for.

If his whole MadMax future prediction comes to pass, I expect Celente to be the first one to shit his pants. He may have to get a real job, since there won't be a market for charlatans who pull nonsense out of their derrieres then...

...but will anyone listen. I doubt it. I didn't vote for a president who would expand and further entangle us into war. It would seem that war is the only industry that we have to offer the world. Not our science and ingenuity. Not our desire to solve complex problems with "can do." What we're doing now is just stupid. Stupid.

- I was born in the midst of the Korean War. And have seen nothing but more and more war since then. Universal healthcare, while sorely needed, will be of little value if we're barely capable of delivering the services.

My bullshit detector went off the loudest when he said like a fact that the stimulus is all spent, when in fact, only a minority of it was spent last year.

Also, what "trends" are showing anything sliding? All the sense I'm getting is that the economy is leveling off and starting to heat up a little again.

39. Why would there be food riots
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 04:57 PM by Juche
Much of the stuff he talks about I find believable. But why food riots or trouble feeding people? The manufacturing and agricultural infrastructure to grow and distribute food will still be there. People will still be able to feed themselves on $1/day.

I think other stuff he talks about is likely though. Job riots. Rebellion over free trade. The middle class becoming more revolutionary.

Is his track record as good as people say? Did he really predict all these things in the past? He is a teabagger, so I don't know how much credibility to give him.

Part of the psychological makeup of right wingers if they fear everything is always hanging by a thread and any stress or deviance will collapse the whole thing. That is why they react so badly to terrorism and military threats (they want to shoot first and ask questions later).

So I have no idea how valid his claims are or how much are just the interpretations of people whose natural way of looking at the world is one of fear of collapse.

Gerald Celente Speaks on Cap and Trade and Obamageddon

http://socioecohistory.wordpress.com/2009/07/04/gerald-celente-speaks-on-cap-and-trade-and-obamageddon/

And here's an old Psychology Today article where he was predicting stuff for the decade just past. It reads like something by the Great Criswell - tons of generalities some of which were bound to come true in some shape or form:

53. How to be a successful psychic and gain reknown for forecasting the future:
1) Make a whole bunch of predictions. Hundreds are good, and thousands even better.

2) When a couple of your "predictions" come true, shout from the highest rooftop that you were "right".

3) Never mention, under any circumstances, your incredibly incorrect predictions, even though they form the bulk of your prophesies.

4) To be extra successful, find gullible followers to do steps two and three for you.

58. I'm sure other "great civilizations" didn't believe in their eventual demise, either.
It's obvious the gap between the rich and the rest of us is widening. More and more people are being hurt by unemployment, lack of health care, the rising cost of goods. We can only take so much.

I'm not taking this as gospel, but I'm not discounting it out of hand, either. It's worth thinking about, and being aware of the possibility.
