"No matter how I look at the issue, I cannot escape being troubled by the fact that we have in place a policy which forces young men and women to lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens."

-- Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, quoted by the New York Times, on the need to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law.

1. I'm very proud of my shipmate ADM Mullen today
I don't know what needs to be "discussed." Just repeal the nonsense.

6. The damn Commandant of the USMC wants to keep DADT.
For a branch of service that has the habit of recruiting gay porn stars, I would consider the USMC would be the last place for being bastion of so-called macho-straight esprit de corps values, or whatever moralistic BS jargon they conger up to keep DADT. Especially with a large percentage of ranks being LGBT. Hell, I was a Marine for fucks sake! We were all a bunch of aggressive sons a bitches, gay or straight, male or female.
