1. I don't understand the passivity of clinic escorts. And the pigs treat the terrorists with
kid gloves.

I'd like to see how dedicated they would be if they were treated like protesters on the left - beatings, mace, jailing, and all the rest that we are subjected to. Actually, I would just like to see them beaten, arrested, maced, and abused as we were. How they react is irrelevant.

I also wonder why escorts do not wear track cleats and simply walk over the criminals.

Make their protests costly to them. Now, anything they do is done with impunity.

2. The simple response to your comments is that the Media would crucify the escorts if they
ever did anything resembling what the Pro Mandatory Pregnancy crowd does routinely.

But, I agree with the spirit of your post and wonder if there are not some other ways that the Pro Choice crowd could harass the shit out of THEM when they try to deny a woman her legal rights. That's a cause I could get behind.

6. I would argue...
that the non-confrontational nature of the clinic escorts is one of the factors leading to their success. I've read through WACDTF documents dating back to '89 and there were certainly folks arguing to make the anti's "uncomfortable". Most experienced escorts will say good things rarely occur from engaging an anti in any way.

9. Because a lot of the authority present are sympathetic to their cause.
Especially in conservative/red areas. Anything more than standing between them and absorbing whatever they've directed at the women will lead to "resisting arrest".

3. Roe v. Wade
This is public action overturning Roe v. Wade.

This is vigilante mob rule by people that don't understand our Constitution.

My question to myself: Would I resort to their despicable tactics to overturn the recent CITIZENS UNITED v. FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION?

In sophomoric street slang of my youth, this January 21, 2010 Decision should also be called an abortion!

American democracy has less than a year left to exist. Sorry to all the Founders for fucking up your beautiful experiment in creating a more perfect Union.

4. i don't have an issue with abortion---- but ----->
for those people who have a fundimental disagreement with ABORTION.... who REALLY believe that it is MURDER....

how can we ask any less than that they PEACEFULLY PROTEST

i know we DON'T AGREE with their position---- and we have the LAW on our side----
but PEACEFUL PROTEST, even PEACEFUL CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE (and were there not situations during VietNam and Iraq when we pushed THAT line too)
is the RIGHT AND RESPONSIBILITY of those who have such strong beliefs

There has been no more difficult decision in my lifetime than the question of ABORTION.
My position, PRO CHOICE, does not come from my religous upbringing, RATHER FROM THE THOUGHT that if someone has to make "those decisions" shouldn't it be the WOMAN CARRYING THE BABY.... and not the NINE SENIOR CITIZEN JUDGES....

BUT i cry for every girl and woman who has to make this choice
AND i hope they never regret EITHER decision

But if I, myself, believed that they were KILLING A HUMAN BEING.... how could I live without doing my part to protest.

NO TOUGHER CHOICE TO BE MADE

Of course you do.

What you don't do that these so called compassionate protester do do is assume women who get abortions are not upset by them and made the choice willy-nilly. Only a self centered fool would assume that any woman having an abortion just skipped on down to the clinic and was psyched for her procedure.

7. There are two very different kinds of...
clinic protests: hits and sidewalk counselors.

Hits are almost unheard of these days. That is when people would blockade entrances and literally try to shut the clinic down for the day, illegally. In 1994, President Clinton signed the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (written by Sen Ted Kennedy) which made blockades a federal crime.

Since then, most protests only involve "sidewalk counseling" (that's the anti's name for it). Those folks are peaceful, although occasionally intimidating, and they focus on convincing women to walk way from the clinic. It is certainly well within our constitutional rights to speak with our neighbors about important issues. However, the anti's tend to push what they can as far as possible and tend to hover between legal and illegal.

This is a topic we will explore in detail in the documentary.

8. I believe America will will experience a balkanization in the near future.
we truly have 2 opposing types of americans: conservative christian right types, and more moderate progressive types.
The problem is somewhat geographical in nature - southern states and rural areas as very conservative - west/east coast and urban areas as much more progressive/liberal.
i know its not a clear cut hypothesis, but as a nation we seem become more and more polarized day by day. i wish us all good luck.
