Sen. Bernie Sanders attended the press conference with Sens. Sherrod Brown and Sheldon Whitehouse and Ron Pollack of Families USA in the U.S. Capitol today to discuss Senate Republicans' blockade of an extension of jobless benefits and health insurance for out-of-work Americans.

1. We have a huge national debt, and the degree of dysfunctionality is huge. Not
allowing money for the unemploymed but allowing a trillion dollars in tax breaks to the wealthiest is crazy... The Republican party has shown that they do not know how to use basic governing skills to provide safety and welfare for all it's citizens. This is a major national security risk and they will ignore it like they did 9-11, katrina, invading Iraq, and maybe now Iran... If the White house does not change course and protect the national health, education, and welfare of our citizens here in our country, they are being equally dysfunctional.

Having admired Paul Wellstone, I must say that you work harder and more effectively than ever I imagined possible. Please keep an eye on our senator, Al Franken, for us back here. I have high hopes for his re-election. When great minds come together.

working with republicans helping them slit more middle class throats. When I voted for Obama, I expected the man to fight for what is right, but Sanders is twice the man that Obama is. Obama has been a perfect demonstration of what is wrong with main stream politics. There is a perfect storm building and Obama's about as effective as a New Orleans levee.

He was elected by People and he gives his allegiance to People.
