Dennis Kucinich appeared for Questions and a short speech at the Health And Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, CA June 10, 2007

DK appears in this video as I've seen him in person a couple of times. He is relaxed, confident, positive, and on topic. He takes questions from the audiences and discusses election/ballot counting integrity, impeachment, corporate influence on government, price gouging at the pump, PEACE, and more. It's long, but well worth it.

I thought this video showcases the reasons people love him, and also the reasons people don't: his world view is just not mainstream.

I believe that he is ahead of the mainstream curve, and that we could evolve forward more smoothly, more peacefully, and more productively under his leadership.

1. I want Kucinich for President!
Every time I hear Kucinich speak everyone of the other Democratic candidates sound like they are from the last century. He is the only one who is really talking about new directions, and a new recommitment to the Constitution and a new world view. He talks about establishing peace infrastructures, educational and health infrastructures, environmental protection and sustainable/renewable energy infrastructures - these are all things we desperately needs, that we must have to survive and grow - and he is the only one talking about these things in a serious way. All of this is looking forward and searching for solutions that do not involve the same old set of corporate money/military spending/international bullying. In my view if we can't have Kucinich, we will have to settle for more of the same old thing...

5. Agreed.
His vision is fundamentally different, and far ahead of the rest, in my opinion.

2. I agree with you.
I voted for Kucinich in the primary...for all the good it did. When I hear him speak, it makes me pissed at other politicians.

AND...

I don't think I'm too far out of the mainstream. In 2000 I was nominally Republican, although I disliked and distrusted politicians, period. For awhile I went gung-ho Democrat, but due to the Democratic failure to actually do the right thing, I'm back to where I was in 2000. Actually, I'm a mirror image of where I was in 2000. I'm nominally Democratic and I dislike and distrust politicians, period.

I think there's a general distrust and dislike of politicians. What the American public lacks is straight talk and a decent news media. We don't know whom to trust because politicians are looking out for big corporations instead of citizens.

4. That is something we have in common.
When I hear Kucinich speak, I am also angry at other politicians.

Up until 2000, I was an independent. I became a Democrat after the 2000 selection debacle.

I have been, and continue to be, appalled at what I see as failure to stand up for Democratic principles, failure to represent the masses, failure to vigorously oppose the dismantling of the constitution...

Lack of decisive action, for me, = complicity.

13. Why do people think this guy is nutty?
I mean he speaks without notes about the most complex problems that face us. He goes to the bottom of the issues! When I met him at a conference at the House with some other progressive, I was struck by how down to earth and charming he was. I had the pleasure to give him an IMPEACH HIM button a week before House Res. 333.

I've almost finished giving out my house party materials for him, and we have a groundswell here in Northern Virginia who are really working for him now.

14. Probably because he isn't a media/pr creation.
He's just himself, just a normal man. What you see, and hear, is what you get. No slick cover with everything that hasn't been specially designed to please polls or campaign spinners hiding under the surface.

16. Yep - our business partner is his California campaign coordinator.
I voted for him in 2004.

He's going to be coming to the Vista/Escondido area this August 12th for a campaign fundraiser (I believe the tickets are $250 apiece).

I really look forward to hearing him speak.

I was living in southern CA in '04, and got to meet him and chat a couple of times.

I've supported him ever since.

21. I moved 2 years ago.
I lived in so cal from 1969 - spring 2005.

I grew up in the SF valley, and lived for 25 years in the Antelope Valley.

I'm in Oregon now, and happy here, but I always carry CA with me.

I think that Oregon is one of the few places this SoCal girl could deal with.

Take care!
