What happened that is weighing on his conscience?

It was one thing when they went after only Democrats

Now they're (more and more) targeting Republicans.
Coburn is probably fairly safe from their wrath
But, the pukies could lose their Senate seats in Florida and Arizona

Even if Reid loses in Nevada, that would make it a -1 for the Republicans

but he rebuked that woman and the anti-Pelosi folks...and he rebuked them earnestly. The shots at Fox were certainly unexpected. That was...surprising. Good for him.

I do think he is consciously trying to put distance between himself and the rabid tea-baggers (though he doesn't have to in Oklahoma) realizing they may start to really hurt the Republican election chances with their insanity, but any move toward decent civility helps. I'd never vote for the guy, and I still don't like him, but I am man enough to admit my opinion of him improved after that.

but minus points for the use of Democrat Party ;). But seriously, it was surprisingly nice of him to both defend Pelosi and standing up against Fox News.

I don't like when republicans have a brain, I prefer my republican opposition brainless like Palin and the tebaggers. I hope this rational thinking stuff doesn't stick. Imagine the nightmare electoral scenario when rabid reactionaries start sounding rational and moderate until they get elected.

The SOB would like nothing better than to see Obama's administration failfor the sake of his corporate buddies.. He doesn't give a rats ass about the citizens of this country. He is just trying to clean up his filthy slate and appear to be more than a self servicing politician.

But, on a related note, you can see how the logic tends to go among the so-called blogosphere by reading the reactions to a snippet of what Coburn said today.

and they have decided to marginalize FOX for now to get them under control. We might start seeing more and more of this from Republicans. It's also a way to get independents to vote for them.

on teevee. Those are OUR airwaves, and should be trustworthy for transmitting facts under the guise of "truth" or "news". All we see on teevee is opinion about what is going on, and the opinion is that of the military industrial commercial complex that owns the media. PLUS, there are foreign people and entities that also own stations that broadcast on our media. That should not be allowed. The same Saudi family that keeps Osama Bin Laden's family in business is the same family that owns Fox news with Murdock...who is Australian. Foreign governments do not necessarily have the best interest of the American citizen at heart....duh?

We need to break up the big conglomerates, and regulate what happens on our air waves.
