3. Blankenship needs to be held accountable
His patriotic platitudes are nothing but cynical public relations.

What is the city but its people? How can one claim to love America and show such callous disregard for lives and well-being of Americans?

4. Cenk's conspiracy theories VS Glenn Beck's conspiracy theories
Edited on Tue Apr-13-10 12:33 PM by WhoIsNumberNone
I was thinking about this as I watched this video.

Beck's conspiracy theories are more dramatic and terrifying, and really capture the imagination of his audience as he makes all the insidious connections on his chalkboard.

Cenk's are much more mundane. All Cenk has is a bunch of facts, and dollar amounts, and paper tails, and verifiable numbers. No Nazis. No secret Illuminati takeover of the government. No international communist conspiracy. Just a bunch of rich people fucking the rest of us over so they can get more money.

Sigh.

6. This is all that matters anymore.
Our government has become a corporate money clearinghouse. Hell, the politicians aren't even making any money compared to the evil they sell their souls and our country to. We have to make government answerable to the regular (dying) citizens or at least cut out the pretense. Progressive people have to start a viable third party. Hell, why even bother...

7. That was ALL of us non-union workers in that mine - How much "Dead Peasants" life insurance did
Edited on Tue Apr-13-10 02:23 PM by GreenTea
Massey Energy Co & that republican asshole tea-party no unions allowed corporate CEO, Don Blankenship have?

How much profit will he make from our fellow dead non-union workers?

We will never know corporations are able to keep all of this a secret among themselves, the corporate rich!

UNIONS pride themselves in SAFETY & fair wages & benefits for it's workers - but corporate owners despise unions because it takes a little money away from their massive profits. - Americans - the anti unions fools!

The Tea Party was and has been funded by groups led by the same anti-union energy industry giants like Massey and the Koch's since day one. These groups funded the Tea Parties with the very intent of distracting working Americans from the real concerns and the real power brokers that are destroying the very fabric of our society - Massey and Blankenship are perfect examples of this. Further, the Tea Partier's with their obsession with the free market and deregulation and the mantra of shrinking government are doing the bidding of these guys. The funny thing is the people on the ground in this movement are supporting the guys behind the scene, while actually bringing about their own demise.

10. This is infuriating. If it can be avoided, it's not an accident.
That's what they say on the drunk driving commercials here in Argentina, if it can be avoided, it's not an accident.

This is nothing short of murder for profit, and it doesn't just happen in the Virginia coal mines, that's just where it hits closest to home. We need to take a stand against these wrecking crew appointments. Just look at John Bolton, who said he'd be just as happy if the UN were obliterated. We need accountability. Everyone needs to learn the concept of "regulatory capture" and fight it tooth and nail.

This motherf* is lucky almost everone on the left is smart enough to know that violence doesn't solve anything. We need to demand justice. We can't let them slide on an "internal investigation", or settlements, or arbitration. Bring this POS before a court of law with a jury of his peers from that West Virginia mining town, present all this evidence, and see if he can convince them he did all he could to protect the lives of his workers. Let him learn the meaning of the word "consequence" and send a message to the rest of these psychopathic for-profit corporate mass murderers.

11. Kicked & Recommended! Quite possibly the best piece I've seen Cenk do so far
Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 12:06 AM by Turborama
I say "possibly" because this one is the most awesomeist rant EVER! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hiRC5ZDTXk">Cenk Goes Ballistic.

As I mentioned in the http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x455042">other thread on this posted by Tom, in China they execute corrupt politicians and business leaders.

I'm not an advocate for the death penalty, just showing the vast difference between how it's dealt with in the world's other superpower.

See: "http://www.france24.com/en/20090122-china-tainted-milk-scandal-two-sentenced-death">Three sentenced to death in tainted milk scandal" & "http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6699441.stm">Death penalty for China official".
