A group of Obama supporters stormed today's Tax Day Tea Party in downtown Washington, D.C., creating a brief and nonviolent ruckus among the tea partiers gathered to listen to Grover Norquist and Dick Armey on Freedom Plaza.

The pro-Obama group, known as "The Other 95%," held a counter-rally earlier in the day to thank Democrats for what they say are the tax cuts the party has given to 95% of Americans since Obama took power.

I happened to be standing right next to the Freedom Party steps when TO95 organizer Alex Lawson walked up with several other members carrying a massive banner reading "Thanks For Our Tax Cuts, Obama!"

D.C. cops quickly tossed the group off the plaza, but not before they got into a couple of shouting matches with tea partiers present. Check out my video of how it all went down -- and how one tea partier from Phoenix, AZ felt about it -- after the jump.

Here's the video, featuring Lawson and tea partier Sherri Stockard:

2. What was the size of the crowd down there? My local TV station had
a reporter live(on tape) say there were "hundreds". Is that all?

3. We need more brave souls to be involved in these teabagger crazy-fests.
We need to put the brakes on these out of control nut jobs. It's time to hold them still and make them hear the truth. They can continue to believe their bull shit...but they NEED to hear the truth.

5. Fairly similar to what I and our little band encountered
Iowa City, Ia. - We started on the fringe but I led a gutsy little group of about ten that stood right in the middle of the baggers making sure our signs were on TV.
Couple of baggers try to jostle me and tried to make me lose my temper, but I stood there in the middle. In various spots, other encountered similar situations.
They were obviously pissed - little conferences and pointing fingers. I had fun playing a little game of hide and seek. They would block me and I would move. We played over and over.

6. Can somebody please
ask this woman at the end of the video what "this" is? this is socialism. this is communism. What is "this"? Does she mean the fact she can assemble peaceably with police protection to protest her government?

7. Also I'd like to see her actually define the terms
I bet she doesn't even understand truly what they are. She's just spouting rhetoric like a good little mind controlled puppet.

12. My daddy used to tell me, if you're going to be accused of something
you might as well be guilty. If it's Communism she thinks 'this is,' then we should treat here as Eastern Block hard liners treated political opponents. OH. OH. OH, SHE DIDN'T MEAN THAT?

I didn't think so. Go back to your hole in the ground. Nit wit!

8. she was so stubborn
wouldn't even admit to a tax cut. They really need to take an economic class and learn the difference between socialism and communism. Here we're fighting to get corporations out of our Congress and they're fighting against Lord knows what but it ain't socialism. The NYT breaks down their demographics:

The 18 percent of Americans who identify themselves as Tea Party supporters tend to be Republican, white, male, married and older than 45.

More than half say the policies of the administration favor the poor, and 25 percent think that the administration favors blacks over whites — compared with 11 percent of the general public

They are more likely than the general public, and Republicans, to say that too much has been made of the problems facing black people.

Why am I not surprised..:eyes:

10. Defining Terms--Isn't that the media's job?
Why doesn't anyone--like the NYT--ask these people what they mean and EXACTLY what it is they are protesting? All their complaints are beyond vague. They want smaller government, but want their own Soc. Sec. and Medicare. they presumably also want a lot of military spending. They believe HCR is socialist--but never explain what part of it they find socialist. It is healthcare PURCHASED from PRIVATE insurers.

I think the NYT revelations about their demographics say it all--but why doesn't the media ask the tough questions? Or any questions? Even from Sister Sarah? I hear her talk about "don't you love your freedom?" Well, yeah. Even liberals love their freedom. But, Sarah, EXACTLY WHICH FREEDOM has been taken away from the teabaggers?

If they don't like the government mandate (and even I don't love it) how does the mandate affect THEM?? If these folks are mostly on SS and Medicare now, they will never have to buy insurance again.

It makes no sense at all and NO ONE is asking them to explain themselves.
