1. I admire him for that
Edited on Mon Aug-06-07 08:35 AM by liberalmike27
But he is so massively Libertarian that his opinions on other stuff are absolutely crazy. He wants to get rid of the IRS. What's happen then? We'd have some sort of consumption tax, the rich would still get their cozy little tax rates, and the rest of us would pay more. Other opinions I heard him express are crazy too, but I can't remember them all

That said, I hope he keeps on getting good cheers from Republican crowds, as it might make them look bad, which can't be a bad thing.

3. His point though,
Edited on Mon Aug-06-07 08:59 AM by DirtyJersey
and this is what makes him not full of shit like most other "small government" Republicans, is that the war and our foreign policy is the biggest drain on our budget. We'd be able to slash a lot on taxes and/or the budget deficit by getting out of Iraq. He's also the only candidate of either party talking about how the Federal Reserve is REALLY screwing the poor. I can't say I support his ideas of cutting all types of government assistance, but he's also made it clear that programs like Medicare are not his biggest targets - the war is. All that said, I would definitely vote for him over most of our candidates, except for Kuchinich and Gravel - I'd like to see someone honest in the White House for a change.

2. And Romney couldn't use the all-purpose Republican comment...
"He's forgetting about 9-11". Just another example of why you can't have an intelligent conversation with a right wing conservative.

4. Republicans need to hear this
And they would not hear it from people that generally support progressive politics.

We need"right wing nuts" to opose the Iraq war and the war on civil liberties.

We need people who can talk to audiences that will not listen to progressives.

God knows I would not want this man president, but his audience needs to hear what he says.

5. Romney is the king of tools.
I put myself through the misery of watching that debate and Romney acts like a gloating prick almost all the way through it. What was interesting was seeing how George Stephanopolous (did I spell that right?) tried to keep refocusing on Romney to get him more exposure and ABC showed Romney's wife every time he spoke. He was the only candidate that got that special treatment. No other wives were focused on. This didn't happen once or twice but at least 3 times. Obviously ABC has already made up their mind who they want to be the Repube candidate.

6. this is hillarious!
Romney is jumping up and down to get a chance to ran his prepared "Ron Paul is crazy" speech to rival Giuliani's May 16 eruption and Ron Paul just cuts him off "Just a moment" and ignores him altogethers.

Classic.

Though it is sad and scary that any of those 8 stooges have infinitely higher chance of nomination that Ron Paul is. Which is good for the democrats though. No pro-war candidate will win 2008 election.

14. You got that one right baby! Rep. (R) Mike Conaway, junior's oil buddy
here in Midland Texas, is backing Romney and the goons here in Midland are casting their hearts and mind toward this classless prick called Romney.

7. ABC had a poll asking who won debate...
I went to it and voted for Ron Paul, and was then shown the results. Paul was way out ahead in the poll, by a huge margin. ABC, of course, never announced the results of the poll on air, at least not that I saw. Seems the media are afraid of the truth in regards to how far the neo cons have yanked their party away from the traditional repuke values that Mr. Paul talks about. They did show poll results of likely Iowa voters, and Paul was no where to be seen. It's pathetic to see Romney and his "he's forgotten about 9/11" BS when Paul is probably the only guy on that stage with any understanding at all of what caused 9/11. Too bad Paul is so bad on other issues, but it is good to see that his message about the war strikes a chord with a healthy chunk of repukes.

8. Ron Paul is the
republican's true conservative candidate just as Dennis Kucinich is the democrat's true liberal.
However, Ron Paul is a whiny little nebbish -- wouldn't you hate to listen to him give the SOU address each year?
Whereas, Dennish Kucinich is a well spoken little guy with a great personality and a winning smile.
No point here, just an observation.
