2. What's the legality of forming armed militia's when the police and

border patrol should be safeguarding the citizenry and border?

While I believe that it is reprehensible that Arizona is trying to pass laws that target those that are not "Lilly white" I also don't believe that the border should be so porous; with those who would cross over it being a threat to the locals.

If the militia wants to be an unarmed one and monitor border crossings for the police then they should invest in high-powered scopes and reliable communications gear. That way they can keep track of any illegal entries from a safe distance and pass that info on to the police/border patrol so they can do the job they are paid to do.

I live about as far away from Arizona as I can get in the contiguous US, have never had any problems with illegals or drug runners, but if I lived in that part of the country I might feel the need to safeguard myself...especially in light of recent events.

3. Uh, businesses & corporations are encouraging these workers employing them all over the country
Edited on Fri Apr-23-10 02:02 PM by LaPera
for peanuts and many times not even paying the workers, even more profit for the slimy companies, while there is nothing these workers can do about it.

Also NOTHING happens to these greedy lying companies & corporations....even if they are fined, which they rarely are, the small fines don't match up to the profits that these companies are making off each worker.

We must fine the slimy greedy employers 10 or 20 grand for each undocumented worker infraction and continue it every day and then watch how fast these same employers start hiring American citizens for better pay instead.

But the republicans scream at that practical & fair enforcement approach, saying it will hurt "business" (obscene profit ratio is what they really mean) which keeps the circle going round & round - as republican strong armed nut cases are getting elected by pointing the finger at the poor undocumented worker who is encouraged to come here by the hiring employer for a low paying job.

And the incredible safety violations ignored by these companies & corporations for these undocumented workers hasn't even been talked about.

As Thom Hartmann often repeats - "We have an illegal employer problem" - And no one is doing a fucking thing about it!

5. I believe that you wanted to post this under the OP.
While I agree with you about fines for corporations I was asking a different question all together.

So with all this crap going on they are talking about not coming over and spending money here in AZ. This knee jerk reaction stuff is just opening up to another Jim Crow Era and more problems than these nitwits like Arapio and Pearce will ever figure out. HELP!!!!

8. That killing was what has everyone upset......
drug and human smuggling are going on unchecked. This guy always provided food and water for illegals crossing and I suspect it was drug runners that killed him.

The feds are not to be seen. It is the lawless old west again.

9. Or just maybe it was someone who objected to him helping people.
Maybe it was someone who wanted to get this legislation passed.

10. Don't think so.....
I believe he had found some drugs that were either on his property or near by and they were seized. Mom lives in Az. and she was telling me about it the day it happened.
