1. "Republicans are paid whores of corporate America"
Yes, they are.

Good that there's someone who will say so (and be heard)!

6. The same "TYT-Bagger" with a featured article bashing teabaggers on Kos and HuffPo today?

8. How about this:
"Obama compromises on fund to gain Republican support. is it worth it?"

That would be an honest discussion and an honest disagreement without the hyperbole and racist ("bow down") undertones. Are you that tone deaf?

9. No, that would be neutral.
Edited on Fri Apr-23-10 06:01 PM by ihavenobias
It's political commentary, not an AP story. And from the commentator's perspective, your headline is inaccurate (just like you thought his was inaccurate).

Finally, you're finding undertones where they don't exist. Always put comments in the context of who's saying them, they don't exist in a vacuum. We're not talking about Pat Buchanan or Glenn Beck here...

10. Alright then:
How about:

"Obama compromise on fund to gain Republican support, Absolutely not worth it!" Then go on to describe why it is a bad idea and what would be a better idea.

Instead we get racist tinged hyperbole. Did you see President Obama actually "bow" and make obescience to some shadowy "Corporate Overlord"? Were you in the room when "they" bought the President?

Of course not. Instead of intellectually honest commentary you give racist tinged sensationalist hyperbole. Only one step from Glen Beck.

I expect much better than that bullshit from anybody claiming to be a Progressive.

13. It's fair to have a disagreement on tone and terminology
I respect that part of your argument, even though I disagree on the specifics. At the same time if that's really your issues, you should refrain some saying "TYT-Baggers" as it makes you guilty of what you're accusing TYT of.

As for what we know about who influences our politicians (and our president), it's not speculation or a grand evil conspiracy, it's pretty well documented and out in the open:

15. When TYT stops with the Obama bashing
and stops with the bullshit racist hyperbole and stops with the bullshit conspiracy theories (in other words stops with the Teabagger tactics) then I'll stop referring to the TYT-baggers.

This is not a new thing with TYT.

16. Seeing as how bowing is probably more commonly...
attributed to Asian cultures or nobility in cultures that are perceived as predominantly white, meaning that the white persons do the bowing, how about calming down about the inferred racism? I see more offense in Cenk's use of "bitch" than the bowing reference.

17. I agree.
I thought the use of "bitch" was over the top. Which makes the fact that someone has found (unrelated) imaginary reasons to be angry even more baffling to me.

Sadly partisanship isn't reserved for Republicans, as I've learned since the election.

12. And another thing:
TYT is implying a conspiracy between the President and some unnamed Corporate overloards. How about some fucking evidence for your conspiracy theory?

Jesus Fuckin' H. Christ on a pogo stick, Cenk gets more and more ridiculous all the time.

So, I'm going to infer that you don't see a conspiracy when some tough policies are removed from this bill and that many people are pointing out that Obama got significant political donations from big players in the financial industry?

Cenk's not the one who is becoming more ridiculous here.

14. To clarify:
I don't have a problem criticizing the policy. I am still looking at it and will wait for the final bill until I pass my own (inconsequential) judgment. I despise the Obama bashing, not the disagreement.

Characterizing the President as "bowing down" is bashing and racist and implies a conspiracy. It is typical of the hyperbolic Obama bashing that is now a staple of TYT.

24. this is why so many
progressives are angry with Obama. Bill Maher called Obama a moderate republican. I would call him a centrist. Someone who believes in domestic policy but will use capitalist ideas to invoke them. It is terribly irritating to watch him cave to right wing nuts when they're constantly bashing with outright lies and like Cenk explain, are not going to work with him no matter what he does. This is the argument.

The more he tries to work with them the more they snare him in their phony outrage and give the appearance that they're manipulating him. That pisses most of us off. He has to stop that. Stop complaining..stop compromising and be the leader we know he can be. The GOP keeps spouting this bullshit that the country wants bipartisanship. NO hell it doesn't. It wants a leader. It wants a president to denounce the bullshit, put the country first and stop playing around with the toddlers who are throwing the tantrums because they lost.

Am beginning to wonder if the birthers are getting to him. He has had an enormouse amount of negativity hurled at him. Maybe it's time for a ralley of support. Maybe he needs to see that more.
