Regardless of what you think about this law's impact on civil rights, enforcing it will be expensive, very expensive. Did Arizona do a cost analysis before passing the law?

To be fair, she's not the only person who often misuses the word. Many of those in law enforcement also use it to describe any and every drug whose users they would attempt trap in a cage for years, even decades. (Disclaimer: Not picking on law enforcement here; our draconian drug laws aren't their doing, nor do they necessarily approve of them.)

The point is that he word "narcotic" is just another word for opiates. It's right there in the good old dictionary. However, for people such as Brewer the word is a pejorative. "Drug" just isn't scary enough. "Narcotic" frightens people, helping people such as Brewer create an enemy to fight in "our" wildly successful "war on drugs".

However my laughter was also from shame that my state would be so stupid as to go down this road. Brewer should resign and withdraw from the race just due to not caring about the people. I send her my thoughts and asked her what resources she used to make a decision since I found several cases where such a law took affect and was a major failure to the point they had to rewrite it or revoke it. I still haven't gotten a reply in over a week now.

I guess she didn't catch the one where Bush joked about the WMDs.
