1. Barker could not have made it any more clear that this nation
will not endorse any religion inspite of those who would want us all to bow down to the 'Christian' faith.

2. The problem with the idiots that want this to be
a Christian nation is the next logical step to make sure it becomes the correct Christian type nation. Mr. Barker hit the nail on the head.

17. Notice his whiny "it's been around for 56 years, golly, gee, why can't we just
keep doing it? No one's complained in all this time" bullshit.

Yep, and slavery was around for a long time as well.

What a maroon.

4. Well said, Dan!
And what is so damn hard to understand?

These religious zealots won't even consider the words of Matthew 6:6

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7. I picked up on that also. It's funny when guests tell the interviewer that they got it wrong.
Common on Faux News.

15. The funniest part was Barker repeating "freedom" over and over and over
he clearly knows that that word is both a space filler to kill air time and a trigger word for Fox News (talk radio) viewers- they only catch bits and pieces and his saying that over and over and over was brilliant.

9. As a Christian
I think Barker did an excellent job on expounding on, the reasoned out, non religious nature of American government, as it is intended to be.

:applause:

12. why are all fox hosts so Stoopid?
really, i mean if as a news anchor you're going to ask legitimate questions of a guest who so obviously knows what they are talking about, then you'd want to know the difference between the declaration of independence and constitution, that christmas was originally a pagan holiday, and most importantly, what the ruling made by the judge actually says.

the lack of journalistic standards is sickening.

13. Who is the interviewer?
He looks very familiar. His stupidity is laughable and his hurried moving-right-along after Barker said "You made a mistake," exposes him for the ignoramus he so obviously is. Barker's point is clearly and eloquently made. It seems to me inarguable, but then again, I agree with him completely. This jerk's attempts to argue are pathetic, and he seems to know it.

16. The Government has to hold their hand to pray?... on 1 day a year?
Exactly!

Can't religionists of all stripes pray any day they want? Does not having a National Day of Prayer stop anyone from praying? Is anyone on any day being prevented from congregating in large groups if they want and praying?

Of course not.

This is merely giving special treatment to the groups that think praying is something worthwhile. The Constitution specifically prohibits that. And the religionists are a "special interest group"...getting special treatment.

I'll compromise though. Don't want to be rigid and unfeeling. That "special interest group" can have their day if another "special interest group" can also get something...like Gay Marriage, and the right to serve openly in the military.

Or how about, "Smoke a Doobie" day?

18. I don't like your compromise. The rights of gays are currently being withheld
based SOLELY on religious beliefs of the people who run this country. To allow an unconstitutional Day of Prayer to gain rights for gays is to capitulate for all the wrong reasons.

Better to knock down the unconstitutional DoP without compromise. Doing so moves our country closer to its secular roots, which makes gays rights more achievable in the near term.
