Summary: Cenk talks about how Republicans are blocking three critical financial reform amendments. You can http://news.firedoglake.com/2010/05/18/merkley-levin-draws-objection-from-republicans-dorgan-fighting-for-his-amendments/|read more here>.

PS---Check out (and subscribe to) our new channel, . As the name suggests, it's all great interviews with members of Congress, Media Matters reps, Michael Moore and Jesse Ventura, authors, journalists, reporters, conservatives (yes, conservatives) and much more.

3. Cenk does make a good point...
Capitalist-loving conservatives hate government but will tolerate government (i.e., American taxpayers) bailing-out crooked government-hating capitalists...

4. IMO, America should be
like the majority of "civilized nations" and have free public education, including college. To call yourself "the land of the free" and then to demand huge profits from someone who wants to better their life is absurd. If not for Americas' old testament style of capitalism, the point of her immigration status would be moot.
Again, Cenk and I disagree on the issue of capitalism trumping the the rights of the individual. Capitalism is evil by any standard. If you practice a religion, they all are contrary to capitalism. If you are atheist or agnostic...whatever, then if you have a moral compass, IMO, the very tenants of strict capitalism and profits before people are heinous.
Yes, I realize that I live in the wrong country and unfortunately, at this stage of the game, I am stuck, but I do not have to agree with the situation.
To me this is not about a bright young womans plight, it is about the basic freedoms that all people are born with. Fortunately, for the countries that were rebuilt under the "Marshal Plan", as directed by FDR, their residents do have the fundamental right of higher education at no cost. Of course, so do most Socialist countries. If you desire a socio-economic system based on capitalism, then I believe that FDR paved the way to do so while still allowing everyone guaranteed rights. These rights should include universal healthcare also, thank whoever, that FDR was able to influence a progressive definition of rights. He tried unsuccessfully to get a "second bill of rights" passed in America that would have allowed us all these guarantees, no matter how poor you are.
This system in most European countries and also Japan has proven itself to be the right thing to do for all people.

5. White collar crime
gets a free pass if it fosters the Republican wet dream of unbridled Capitalism. Money trumps fairness and decency.

6. Come on, Cenk.
You know how fucking stupid these Republicans are. Hell, they voted for W Bush twice and will still defend him. They vote against their best interests time and time again. If Limbaugh and Beck are against it, they are against it. No thought.
