it is not true that we are moving into the age of clean, renewable energy supplies. What is true is that we are moving into an age of not enough energy to support modern industrial civilization.

There are 10 K-calories of petroleum energy spent for every 1 K-calorie of food energy produced by modern agriculture. When that abundance of petroleum-based energy goes away, 90% of our food calories will go away. That's simple thermodynamics, and there's no way around it. And that means 90% of earth's population will starve.

We are not dancing cheerfully into happy Tomorrowland® where the skies are blue and the birds are singing, we are sliding down a treacherous slope into Dante's Inferno where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Life on earth is going to be shear hell for a long time to come.

just wait until a hurricane blows through. Where is the clean-up? Past time to get busy Mr. President.

...but in my experience all this will do is cause these oil idiots and their paid-for dependents in our government, to double-down. And they will do this because clean renewable energy can't be harnessed, it can't be controlled, and it can't doled-out by these profiteers.

If one looks at human history, I believe they will find that whenever humanity has moved in a direction toward the benefit of the common good, it is only after disaster, calamity and/or utter devastation has occurred by its own hand, beforehand. And even when this occurs we fail spectacularly in learning the lessons from these mistakes of our past.

Might as well own the wind along with the sea.
