3. I was in my late 20's and I remembered the pipeline leak in Alaska....
...but I had forgotten about the leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

7. great piece! they DID advance the tech to prevent this, but BP bypassed that tech to save 1/2 mil!
and now they should be tried for it! and the company's assets seized.

12. Or.....
...another idea would be to REQUIRE that all off-shore oil rigs drill pressure relief wells (say, 90% completed) BEFORE they're allowed to drill for oil. That way if a catastrophe occurs, relief wells can be employed almost immediately.

13. that could be a compromise for future drilling. hopefully all corporate oil welfare will be taken
out of the yearly fed budget and put into renewable energy projects.
