1. Being honest this seems like hyperbol to me
The guy is excited but he didn't present a clear picture of what was going on. Who was doing the enforcement, etc.

3. Hyperbole? Not at all. Did you listen to all of it? ...
He doesn't KNOW what's going on. That's what's creepy about it.

He was as clear as anyone can be about what he's seeing. "Grand Isle is shut down." "Chevron" helicopters in the air. Says people are afraid to talk. Police threatening to arrest people with cameras. He gets the feeling that it's much worse than the public is being told (not surprising, that).

Also, about 2:50 in, he says what he's reporting sounds like hyperbole.

He says he's going back out tomorrow. I hope he can find out more.

5. Yeah, I listened to the whole story but...
The problem was there was no way to substantiate his rather surprising claims. If they are "arresting people with cameras" I agree that the spill has essentially become a corporate martial law site. But I've seen mainstream reporters stationed on Grand Isle so this seems anomalous. I remain skeptical of the most extreme claims. Basically it sounded like a couple of 19 year olds taking about something they hadn't seen before.

6. I think context is important here. I think he'd only arrived at that site
that day. He said he was going out the next day (today?) to try to find out more. I look forward to what additional info he learns.

On the other hand,I think it's good, survival-wise, to trust your intuition when you find yourself in a situation that seems kind of hinky. I'm talking about his feeling of "being watched".

Maybe nothing to it, but better safe than sorry.

2. I thought we already knew about the media blackout.
and that BP was getting people to sign off on not talking to the media as a condition for employment?

4. Yes, but WHY should there be a media blackout? If BP is tellling the truth
about the situation (which I don't think they are) then what's the reason to keep the media out?
