As I've agreed with before, there are times where I think being a dick should be reserved for moments when others are likely to be the same.

14. Stone is an example of a smart person who is occasionally wrong
Here on D/U we daily view a large number of people support the destruction of Israel. At least tacitly. Similar to the way Helen Thomas does.

So yes, Maher's remarks were accurate. There should be no scared cows. Even Oliver Stone is worthy of criticism.

We should diss Bill Maher when he is wrong too. Like when he puts down the 9/11 truthers.

16. You might want to watch the Overtime segment on HBO
I just did. Queen Noor came back and they had another discussion of Israel that was too blithe, but more informative than anything on the show proper. I will say this: I don't think Stone supports the destruction of Israel, even tacitly, but he is worthy of criticism.

I'm calling bull shit.

It is fair to say a large number of ppl here think some of Israel's tactics are unjustified and that there is another side to the story (keeping Nutmeg out of Gaza. Really? This is NOT, as Shumer said yesterday, a blockade to keep only weapons out of Gaza. It is punishment for the ppl of Gaza electing Hamas. Shumer says it is okay to "strangle Gaza economically."

That our media isn't completely, 100 percent biased for Israel, they can do no wrong.

Never in the program was it mentioned that the country was Palestine, and Israel took it.

Like Stephen Colbert said "I think the Palestinians should go home...No wait!!" They already are home. It's the Israeli settlers that messed things up. It was an huge historical blunder.

Maher originally was on-board for Iraq too, but eventually he came around on that one. We'll see where he goes with that one.

I don't think that was directed at Stone or his points in particular. It's just a stock segue that a comic will have in his repetoire.

As for Oliver Stone... he really wasn't very articulate in this show. Maybe the years are catching up to him or maybe he'd been hittin' the mojitos. But he was not making a coherent presentation on anything he said. I'm looking forward to his documentary. I'm sure that will be a much better presentation than Stone off the cuff.

Something that you might enjoy, Bill Maher inadvertently uses the Bush justification for the Iraq war (they HAD WMD)to justify the Israel's piracy and attack of the relief boats. I still love ya Bill but ya fucked up on this one. (It's during an exchange with Oliver Stone)
