2. God help me but I love the Texas accent. I lost mine a long time ago
but I remember my father talking the way LBJ did in this video (altho without any reference to his private parts!). I love the way LBJ says "just send them to the White House..." like it was just another address.

JFK had his clothes tailored by Savile Row tailors in London. What a difference with LBJ, actually taking over the job of ordering his slacks...pretty funny...

5. Agreed, so you'd think this would be new to them...
But if the DU poll I remember is accurate, we skew old enough to be familiar with LBJ... ;)

8. I was born under LBJ...
...so my memory of his as President is non-existant. However, I clearly remember when he died (a month after Harry Truman):

15. I remember when he died, too, kind of a strange memory.
I was at school, getting ice cream, was bent over, with my head and shoulders in the cooler, when I thought that I heard somebody waiting behind me say that President Johnson had died. I almost hit my head, I stood up so fast... x(

I remember Lady Bird's passing much more clearly. I was on DU, and passed on the sad news. ;(

7. As fussy as he was about his "junk", probably not...
Edited on Sun Jun-13-10 06:40 AM by Dennis Donovan
I'm sure he had skivvies that were as highly engineered as Jane Russel's bra! :D He went as far as to install a extra shower nozzle that would squirt water up his wazoo!

9. Why would the president of the US carry around money and a knife in his pocket at the White House?
I guess you can never be too sure.

10. Carrying a pocet knife is a Texas thing...
...as well as a generational thing. Almost every person I've known born before 1930 carried a pocket knife.:)

11. Oh, of course. A simple pocket knife
I was picturing something more lethal.

16. I'm not from Texas, but Iused to carry a pocket knife in my handbag.
It had two nice little blades, scissors and a nail file. It came in very handy. Then TSA took it away. I'm not very happy about that.

Actually I think it may be a western, midwestern thing, carrying a pocketknife. I know several guys who carry a larger foldable one in a leather case on their belts, horse people, ranchers, farmers.

17. Knives are pretty useful things. I carry one around.
Of course I'm in Texas, too. I hate looking like a stereotype. Gol' durn it.
