Roger Wicker Accuses Democrats of 'Playing Politics' With Gulf Oil Disaster While Playing Politics With Gulf Oil Disaster
By Heather Sunday Jun 20, 2010 3:00pm

We've heard a lot of carping from Republicans on how the Obama administration has handled this disaster in the Gulf of Mexico and Sen. Roger Wicker from "the coast is clear, come on down" Mississippi was no exception with the Republican's response to the President's weekly address. Wicker complains that the Obama administration has politicized the disaster while doing little more than politicizing it himself with this rebuttal.

He complains that the Democrats heaven forbid would like to get their energy bill passed which of course is going to end up being friendly to industry even if it does manage to make its way through the Senate, but in Wicker's world that's exploiting "this crisis to push his liberal agenda for a cap-and-tax scheme".

And Sen. Wicker is upset that "the Democratic plan to increase oil cleanup fees and raid those funds to pay for unrelated programs".

2. Let's see
Remove the deep water drilling moratorium to keep jobs? Is there a possible down side? Well, if it ends up as a broken well and another environmental Pearl Harbor, perhaps Republicans would blame they guy that lifted the moratorium?

Let the regs and tech catch up with this new deep water drilling and revisit lifting the moratorium in the future.

3. Unfortunately BP and the Republican leadership (yes I am a Republican) let this disaster happen.

I support the President and will vote for him again. He needs to quit seeking bi-partisanship where it is not ever going to happen. My beloved GOP doesn't exist anymore and I suspect the Democratic Party doesn't, either. We are becoming a nation of insiders and outsiders.

4. I respect your open-mindedness....
You don't have to agree with a total liberal view....as I honestly don't think many Democrats do....but to be able to objectively realize what is going on in the right side of politics is essential to keeping this country on pace to hold us together and benefit the middle classes.

Not sure what I'm saying...but I have respected the Republican Party of long ago. But after the days of Richard Nixon, it has taken a real turn to the right and no longer represents the American public. Dwight's deepest fear of us becoming a military industrial nation has come true; and both the left and right have been strong advocates for corporations over public. In my humble opinion, it's a sad, sad state of affairs in our country. I honestly doubt we'll ever pull out of it. We can try...but I don't think we can any longer.
