1. This is exactly what happened.
In conclusion, they fucked up in every way they possibly could.

Are we really ready to allow new construction on nuclear power plants? I think we should rethink all construction procedure regulation and all oversight requirements. Anyone disagree?

2. You are absolutely right.
In Missouri, the nuclear plant built in the 80s had to be built 3 times. The energy corporation, Union Electric, had hired non-Union, non-certified welders, cut corners on rebar, concrete quality, whatever they could get away with. Fortunately, there was at least one inspector that said "NO".

But we, the public, really will never know how well it was built. But, I'm sure that we will find out someday.

The only way to build nukes is for the govt to be in charge. And that is highly questionable as per the last few decades.

3. Thanks. I'm glad that someone
else is aware of this. With the amount of deregulation, gains in corporate influence and lack of oversight since the 1980s we really have to take this stuff seriously.
