A Louisiana parish official rescued an oil-covered bird from the water. But, getting the bird the help it needed proved to be a difficult task when he called BP's oiled wildlife hotline.

1. Well, obviously they arne't trained to report location information too well
either. If they couldn't get even that right, what are they even doing there? Even I could find out what Cat Island was with just a simple search.

BP just fucking sucks in every way imaginable. :eyes:

3. here's a question.... for the future i guess since it seems too late here....
why don't we have FEMA deal with this disaster and have them use BP's pocket book to pay for it. i mean, having the people who are paying for it in control of the clean up seems to be not working. we need to separate them from the damned decisions. if the hotline was for wildlife rescue, then they SHOULD know what the hell is going on. and in houston??? i think that there are plenty of people in the gulf coast region who probably need a job right now and might know the area.

6. Yeah right...
So Obama is supposed to wave his magic wand and instantly make FEMA full of massive deep-water oil spill experts. He is President not King so he has limits on how much ass he is allowed to kick and how. Since this is one of if not the largest oil disasters in history thinking that anybody has a hook and how to fix it, they obviously don't whether it be the corporation or the government, is somewhat naive. The time to deal with this was before the whole thing blew up. There should have been stringent regulation of all aspects of these drilling operations but the corporatists party of America (GOP) said we could trust the oil companies to do the right thing. In any case, whether the government is 'in charge' or BP is 'in charge' really doesn't make all that much difference I would suspect it is still the same 'experts' telling them how to handle the situation. Besides that fact that I am sure the federal government is deeply involved in this but the media gets more bang for their buck by building up a battle between 'the locals and the feds'. Maybe if the 'local' governors would get off their fat political asses and approve using all the National Guard troops that have been approved that might help (not saying its their fault either). The bottom line is the finger pointing and blame game do nothing to help the process one way or the other and we should be focused on making sure this never happens again whether that be through strict regulation and inspection or outright bans remains to be seen.

7. BP contracts out everything it does.
We have GOT to get away with contractors, who seem to take money for almost everything, and do nothing.
The beach clean up crews are contracted out, the contractors have no interest in getting the job done, and there is no accountability. I have friends who are on the Gulf, watching contracted crews sit around for 3-4 hours at a time, under a tent, then leave, having done ZERO work, while the oil remains on the beach.

8. BP wildlife operators aren't trained to do anything but record locations?
Could I hate BP any more for their arrogance, incompetence and callousness? Didn't think so.
