1. As an animal lover and rescue-operator, I can say
these "reporters" are no different than our local feral cats, pet dogs, and rescued ferrets. They snuggle up to those who bring the food. Since the powerful and connected bring the food, the "reporters" snuggle up to them. They're not interested in a challenge; they want an easy meal. If you interfere with their food supply, you're part of the problem and must be stopped. Hastings didn't want an ample supply of kibble. He wanted a challenge. Thus, he is attacked. QED, methinks.

Listen for it at 1:50 in the program.

Might help recruitment. Not a bad rack under that red blouse either. A couple good handfuls. Tempting but no. I wouldn't go.

30. He got the story and you didn't, Lara. Put that in your pipe.
I used to respect her. Not sure why; through her own comments she admits she's no watchdog. Embeds just aren't. They're too beholden to the people they're covering. They show the heroics of U.S. troops, but provide no context to the big picture. Hastings spent a lot of time with McChrystal but wasn't exactly an embed.

Methinks I should cancel cable TV and replace it with a few magazine subscriptions, starting with "Rolling Stone" ...

And that was one risky story Lara, you reported that they were throwing grenades at out troops and they invited you back?

34. they're just mad because they got scooped by an entertainmet mag.
first they keep getting hammered by jon stewart and colbert for their lack of journalistic integrity, and then people like this rolling stone reporter get a huge scoop! then they wonder why THEY never get the goods like that. oh yeah, it would require doing more than parroting what they are told. it would require actual WORK!! though i do believe there are reporters over in iraq and afghanistan doing the work and getting the stories and the msm doesn't friggin care. you don't hear hardly anything about the wars you might forget they are even going on!! These soldiers risk their lives in these countries.... miss the milestones of their young children. their lives are altered by the things they see, and many of them die over there. and the msm can't even be bothered to cover it. we owe them that. we owe the soldiers to at least bear witness to it, even if we can't go over there ourselves for whatever reason. we should all have to see what is being done in OUR name.

Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 05:25 AM by SemperEadem
and instead seems to be about providing a counterfeit construct around people and situations which deserve exposure as a means to save them from themselves.

Torquemada is a grown ass man who made a series of decisions for which he now must pay. He should have reigned both himself and his staff in a long, long time before Hastings got permission to cover their unit--it was not the job of Hastings to babysit them and if anyone thinks that that is the priority job of a journalist, then they are woefully misinformed and dangerous to the profession.

Lara Logan and every other guilty journalist are popping off left and right--and the guilty make the most noise. They are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves for where they have steered the profession and what other suspect things they've let slide in order to save the subject from him/herself. She is basically admitting that she will ignore and will willfully not report pertinent information in order for her subject to save face; therefore, she is not impartial and she has basically admitted as much.

Ok, so I can see not doing that means you won't get any dicque from the troops, so if that's the case, then Lara needs to own that and make that statement up front in all of her reporting because her views are skewed if she is not fully reporting a story because it will upset what she's got going on on the side.

Lara needs to figure out if she's over there trolling for some dicque or if she's over there earning her pay as a bleevin' journalist.

Logan, like all too many in her profession, wants to be a member of what George Carlin called, "the big club."

Hastings rocked the boat. Rocking the boat gets derided. Calling into question the "wisdom" of yet another American occupation: crickets...

Lara Logan is an embarrassment and if she had any sense of integrity and honor, she'd quit her job.

42. For the first time I have to criticize Cenk. He is making it sound as though
Edited on Wed Jun-30-10 08:32 AM by peacetalksforall
Logan and Rivera have made these decisions on their own. Wrong. These are establishment media decisions. They are following orders of the corporate media networks that are part of the baron consortium. They are employees of the military-industrual. Cenk did not mention who they work for. It is key.

Barons-corporations (with their media)-banker/investor groups-military-think tank/foundations-lobbyist/acronym organizations-secret societies-multinational conglomerates-reverends-most of congress and executive. Logan and Rivera work in the media which is under corporatons. This consortium is about ownership and control. They were doing their part in controlling and they lost. Cenk doesn't mention their orders. Cenk is perpetuating the myth that those two reporters are operating independently. They are more actors than journalists.

As far as we know, the Rolling Stone, is not under this corporate group. Oh yes, the RS is a paper, but look at what happened on the internet before the paper came off the press.

Cenk isn't being remiss - we are just not at the point where the American people understand who is really trying to run the world. After many decades preparing for ownership and control - they don't have it all thought out yet.

Logan and Rivera are angry at the internet. It exposes them and they have reiterated it in these interviews. It's the internet and independents that are wrecking their work and method of working together for the barons and teams.

(Enter Lieberman. Who thinks all the world is going to bow to his Bill. Since they Chinese did it in China.)

to Bill Clinton. They helped the repugs try to over throw a legitimately elected government, simply because he had sex outside of marriage, which is not a crime of any kind. They pushed it 24/7, millions were spent on it, and to what end? Clinton was impeached for lying to congress when answering a questions he shouldn't have been asked in the first place. They think they are doing us justice with this kind of crap? That is why I get my news from BBC and else where OUTSIDE of the US. Our msm is a joke.

As in "the greatest honor for the Samurai is to die for the emperor" and all that?

In the context of the traditional codes of honor McChrystal is getting off pretty damn easy. He could have been asked to take his own life.
