That quote should be enough to stop anyone with half a brain from enlisting.

That needs to be said at every Democratic debate and whenever a Democrat is on a talking-head news show.

The supposed party of defense has destroyed our defensive capabilities.

And in the meantime between starting the draft and ending the war, how many men and women will be conscripted, shipped, and brought back in a box?

I want the war machine to stop too, but I don't want the reason it stopped to be that the cogs of that machine got clogged up with the bodies of thousands of enslaved men and women. What you are saying is that you want to see lots more people die, mostly young people, for a political point.

And I will bet you think that it will work, too. Veitnam lasted ten years, and was ended due to lack of funding, at least officially. Opposition to the draft was widespread, but had no impact on halting the war. Ten years, bud, of men and boys being forced to go overseas and come home maimed, if they even came home.

Meanwhile the people who would supposedly "stop the war" the moment the yellow card came in the mail, for them or their kid, are able to get deferments easy as pie. Tell me, Maraya, are you eligible for the draft?
