That's Melange Lavonne. Here's an article about gay hip-hop.

2. In the beginning (early 70s), it was the same 33s & 45s the DJs were mixing ...
and scratching and manipulating in breakdance halls uptown and black & white gay clubs downtown, and when hip-hop developed into its own genre and hip-hop rap records, per se, started coming out, this music was played and danced to in the gay clubs as well. Even into the late 1980s, what was called hip house (a mix of hip-hop and house music) was one of the sounds in many gay clubs as well, although hip-hop (straight) and house (gay) were by then already moving in different directions. The advent of techno and gangsta rap, it seems to me, was when the final divorce came between what I'll call gay club music and hip-hop in general.

Just a little history to add to the LA Daily News article, which states that Man Parrish's Hip-Hop Bebop Don't Stop came out in 1986, and that it is considered to be the first gay rap record. Actually, it came out in 1983, and there was no rapping on it, so you can't call it gay rap, although it was definitely electro hip-hop.

Cheers for Mélange L. I wish her the best success.

3. Very good
I think she managed to cover all the bases. And she did it with style. I imagined her singing her song as a counter to Phelps and his crowd. I don't think they would know what to make of it.

5. That's awesome.
Sad, because so many of us know people who have been bashed. Yeah, it made me cry.
