I remember my father once remarking that the Conservative Party in Canada was so unpopular at the end of the Mulroney gov't that many of the ridings could be overthrown. A group of activists could join, vote out the old directors and install themselves...

And as a happy side consideration, joining may provide a means to protect this poor wayward organization from the clutches of such opportunistic vultures as Bachmann, Palin, et al.

I was thinking a new bend on the iconography... go to the meeting, but take your own tea bags... a few contact highs and the whole enterprise may suddenly become more refined and wise. Take donuts along. They'll love you.

Tricksy, she is, and smart. Michelle has one interest - Michelle - and she will do whatever she thinks will gain her publicity and votes. She is an expert at manipulation and at creating enough controversy to get her ugly mug on TV. Same reason she was getting chummy with Palin (who is cut of the same cloth): just another way to call attention to herself and hop on the gravy train.

Guaranteed: If a tsunami washed away every member of the "tea party" and left her, she would not shed a tear.

Both Palin and Bachmann are self serving egotists.... like many a politician. Their modus operandi is to use the ignorant, credulous and uneducated by stoking and mobilizing their fear of anything and anyone different from them, and their resentment of people who they consider smarter than they are. They, like Dubya and Reagan, are the triumph of anti-intellectualism. The GOP's power is.

Jeez, I can see 50 things wrong, how can this possibly help the Teabaggers?

Did you look at the crowd? 90% would lose their SS/Medicare under a GOP driven congress. Smaller gov't, I'm all for that, Bachmann's district would get wiped out if her call to not dealing w/the Census went through...(Which BTW, is Constitutionally mandated! Article I Section 2 no less).
