I agree...everyone should see this.

It puts, succinctly, our pattern of abuse in the ME.

At the end, when Jon talks about nation building and keeps looking to the side expecting the "America To The Rescue" graphic, I did not know whether to laugh or cry.

Utterly awesome!

I started looking for it as soon as the show was over - I knew it was a gem as soon as I saw it. It is one of those segments that TDS does so brilliantly. It is like Keith Olberman's Special Comments; the efforts are appreciated because they are few but so on the mark.

We all stare at Halliburton and curse their greed and their name...but consider for a moment the weapons manufacturers. These are also the real culprits of so much war and misery in the world. When their business is good, the GNP grows by leaps and bounds. Of course the world is getting filled with armaments and can keep their popupulations in line or worse by this threat ...THANKS TO US.

Just watch dummies...once this fiasco is over, we're going to see a great recession like you can't remember since 1970 (the end of the cousin, Vietnam). Once again, we will adjust to a peace time economy where we grow by our products MINUS armaments (military humvees, guns, missles, etc, etc.)

We really are a pathetic nation, responsible for much more pain and misery than we would ever like to realize.

Us oldsters ( over 50. We were the never trust anyone over 30 age group) were ousted in1990! I was doing well in the 70's I'm still trying to recover from Reagan Bush's recession!
Keep in mind......the initiators of the social revolution of the 60's were mostly older than I Beattles, Baez, Dylan....you get the picture. There has been some serious history revision here!
I think we will see a depression like the 30's FAR WORSE than the 70's.

I don't get cable and only rarely get to see DS on an actual TV; last night was one of those rare occasions since I happened to be out of town staying in a hotel with cable, and I was floored by this segment. I was wondering if the show was always this much better on a real TV but I just watched it again on my computer and no, this segment just plain rocks no matter how you see it.

Is there an unconventional way to get this shown in the echo chamber?

But seriously, Folks--I can honestly say that during dark times when the whole country was behind Idiot Son and his need to get a War on, Jon Stewart felt like a light in the darkest tunnel ever. When everyone around--including those who previously hated Bush and the Repigs--suddenly fell into lockstep for the war buildup, Jon made me realise I wasn't insane. (I also discovered DU at the same time.)

Even now that it's almost mainstream, The Daily Show is as brilliant as ever! I watch religiously (hard to do for an Agnostic) and every once in awhile he just hits one outta the park. The Best. Segment. Ever. previous to this one was the "Meet me at Camera 3" bit he did addressing Bush as a cowboy, chewing on a stick of hay. I bray like a Donkey, scaring my cat off my lap watching him. Proof once again that humour trumps everything else!

Those writers on TDS are masters of the art and Jon Stewart has just the right comic touch. This was true art.
