Cenk Uygur (host of The Young Turks) joins Dylan Ratigan on MSNBC for his Daily Rant segment to explain how Republicans protect the rich above all else. They fight for massive tax cuts for the top 2% costing 678 billion dollars but they insist that unemployment benefits (which cost a fraction of that amount) and other programs that help the poor and middle class must be paid for. These so called fiscal conservatives are frauds, especially when they also argue that the two insanely expensive wars do not have to be paid for. There are also some corporate funded Democrats (who claim they are fiscal conservatives/deficit hawks) who fall into this category.

1. No, they're not trying to protect the rich.
They're trying to protect the poor, they're trying to protect all Americans. And the best ways to do that just happen to be really great for the rich. And really bad for the poor. Can't believe anyone still buys the crap they sell.

2. GOP Protects The Rich!

Yeah! And the Dems just bend over backward protecting the poor! :eyes:
But they do discuss here the false equivalency thing....which is good.

What the GOP does is protect SOME uber-rich and corporations.

What the GOP is is a group who just wants to keep ALL its money. They see zero social responsibility inherent in having wads of cash. Dems tend to understand that they can give a little to those in need... and still remain rich! Rewards seem to only be material to the GOP. And yet....they're supposed to be the "spiritual" ones! Go figure....

3. that's it
Watched this yesterday and was so pleased with Cenk drawing out the difference. Dylan ticks me off when he starts that stuff about both parties being the same. You would think by now he could see the difference. Progressives not corporate dems have been fighting for equality for the middle class from the beginning. Name one republican who has..just one! It's not the deficit or debt they're concerned with. Look how fast they spent the Clinton projected surplus..starve the beast is their motto..which interprets to starve the lazy people..whoever that is.

Keep shaking the tree Cenk

6. +1
Cenk said that he took Dylan's point, and after yesterday I do, too, but I will never believe that the two are equal - especially while we have the likes of Dennis Kucinich and Russ Feingold in our camp. :patriot:

13. You're right, but those are the standouts that first came to mind...
Those are the heroes, sad that it's come to that, since it shouldn't be a matter of politics, but of what is right. :(

4. Glad Cenk focused on this - it's so true that it's sickening
the rich get richer and the poor get fucked. congress has betrayed everyone who is not super rich. i wish i knew how we could fight that kind of corruption and blatant disregard for the American People. :grr:

11. K&R Glad to hear Cenk calling out the false equivalences Ratty tried to use.
I caught Faux and Fiends the other day going on about how shocking it was that the top 2% are going to have a tax rise. The trouble is that their viewers are so easily conned by their puppet masters that they will be shocked too, without knowing why. The good thing is that Faux news viewers consist of less than 1% of the population, last time I looked.
