Not a bad rundown. (I think the name "Let me finish" is sort of hilarious in a sophomoric way):P

they would embrace President Obama very warmly. Now Beck has promoted them they can only see the schism between what Beck says and what the Dream actually is. MLK'S dream is a dream for all American's rooted in equality and fairness.

Shirley Sherrod ".. That's when I learned it's not about black or white it's about rich and poor." The rich specifically being monopoly coroprations.

30. MSN reports "Tens of Thousands attending Beck rally..."?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38891505/ns/politics-more_politics/?Gt1=43001

Will be interesting to know the actual count, but how many are there for the MLK event that may not be able to get up the steps past the so-called "tens of thousands" in the Beck crowd?

Also, that the Beck crowd is chanting "USA, USA, USA", yelling, etc. while the MLK event is going on. How disrespectul is that? Palin making her speach in front of the MLK event while her followers yell and cheer, perhaps drowning out the music and speeches at the MLK event. Again, as I said above, tell me they did not move the Beck event so that they could drown out and overtake the MLK event - it make me want to puke.

They are posting a video and calling it "live video of the Restoring America Rally", but when you click on the video, it is clearly a video of the MLK rally.

http://www.msn.com/ (and click on page 1 of 5, then click on "Watch the Rally Live". Perhaps they are referring the MLK rally; however, when you click on the live video, to the right of the video is a small icon which says you are watching the live video of the Restoring America Rally.

WTF?

9. I'm with ya on that Chris. It utterly disgusts me. I'm working
hard to contain my rage when it comes to the hatred, bigotry, intolerance, and blatant hypocrisy coming from Beck and the rest of his right wing followers. These people are such a blight on our country, a dark force that seems to be growing and engulfing everything around it. It feeds off fear and ignorance. We need the media to stand up, and we need good decent Americans to stand up. The kind of scapegoating and hatred we're seeing from the right is precisely what paved the way for Nazi Germany. When the goose-stepping begins, it's too late. Please don't let these sick and twisted people who pervert the Constitution get a foot hold on power.

Right at times and then so wrong at others. This is one of the best statements he has ever made. Yes I do believe this gathering is worst than anything Fox has done. I wish with all my heart someone somewhere had the where with all to take them down and out of business. Can you imagine the smirks and false self righteousness of absolute clowns at Fox and people like Rush. I have never hated any one in my life before, I can say I didn't know what it felt like. BUT I do believe that I know now, there is not one republican out there, that I could ever say I cared about. They all disgust you.

16. Sorry, but why should MSM not have an editorial voice?
I am confused, because I am not from the USA. My observation is that some channels do have good editorial content, and this is disclosed as editorial content, therefore they are honest. The problem arises when their bias is disguised, and they do not offer facts, but poorly grounded opnions disguised as facts, or partial information.

right wing propaganda and "conservative editorial content". It is blatant. We have FOX whose tagline is "Fair and balanced". But after watching for 5 minutes the only conclusion any rational observer can come to is that they are anything but fair. To try and claim that they are balanced is simple misrepresentation (read that as lie) - not disguised bias.

ATC (All Things Considered) a popular news radio show is similar. Airing conservative view points by my estimates, at a ratio of 4:1, or 75% of the time.

The meaning of my post was to simply say, how nice to hear someone telling the truth on the MSM. It may not be in accord with RW thinking but tweety gave voice to a truth, a truth that the cluster fuck in DC is trying to obscure with rhetoric and hate disguised as national pride.

34. You are right.
From almost the inception of radio, we had a set of rules by the FCC, called The Fairness Doctrine, which forced media to inform people when they were giving an opinion as opposed to facts. This same doctrine also ensured that people with differing opinions would get equal "air time", so the American people stayed well informed.
President Reagan, had this doctrine removed so that the "free market could determine the content of News programs", in other words, the "truth" was sold to highest bidder...
The Florida Supreme Court ruled (a few years ago) that "News" programs were not required to tell the truth....really!
IMO, if "our" Democratic party was actually interested in stopping the propaganda, they would Re-instate The Fairness Doctrine. So far, nope...

47. I remember intro to journalism as a high school sophomore. No
matter how hard you tried you got nailed injecting opinion into news stories. It took a little while to recognize when you were doing it. Most people don't have a clear understanding of the difference between fact and opinion.
Imagine pushing to get classes in grade schools that would teach the difference between fact and opinion. The right-wingers would freak out! It would also teach the fact from beliefs or superstition.

13. Something that occurred to me...
...listening to Tweety's comments and a question of 'why here'. Fact is the answer was pretty simple if you think about it, or if as in my case you had just gotten back from taking your dog out for a walk. I'm talking about animal instincts. The 'instincts' that dogs have to 'cover' where other dogs have been before with their own. So 'Lonesome Rhodes' Beck and the people that manipulate him have determined that they 'symbolically' needed to 'piss-on' MLK's spot so they can show to their 'followers', or the ones they mean to whip up into a frenzy, that 'they' are the 'big dogs' now. Just watch, after they're through they'll turn their backs on Washington and 'the spot' and scratch dirt on it. In other words, they're no better than dogs trying to show who can piss the highest or the most.

27. That's the way I look at it.
Beck claimed that he didn't know that was the date or the spot of Martin Luther Kings speech. Perhaps that's true (although he should have known, or have been informed when he or is people applied for the permit). However, when he did find out, he made no effort to change the location of his rally, as would have then shown respect for Martin Luther King's memory and for the people that are attending and planning the MLK celebration. Instead, he chose to go on with his rally that, as he said would be down the steps from the MLK celebration, when in fact, his rally is actually in front of the MLK celebration and blocking it. Tell me if I'm wrong, but that seems to me to be extremely disrespectful and was done on purpose. Freakin' egotiscal asshole!

What DO we call "this". I know what I'd call it, and it's been building towards this for almost 2 years now. I can't BELIEVE what we're watching play out. Beck must be giddy with ego at this moment. He's positioned himself as leader of the new oppresive movement. It'll be easier than it was in Germany, since skin color automatically marks those destined to be suppressed - no identifying armbands necessary.

No, he isn't awesome, and he isn't Maddow or Olbermann, but there are many of those folks in the media today.

He's silly sometimes, but I think it clear that his heart is in the right place and I think it clear that he on average does more good than harm, and he at least tries to be a journalist, even if he fails at it, which is more than you can say about many journalists today.

Chris was right on. It is embarrassing that something like this takes place, especially for what it was designed to do and where it took place. Dr. King is probably rolling over in his grave. The righties and tea partiers and Beckerheads can say all they want, but it was a chance to slam Pres. Obama and the Democrats. I guarantee if you polled every nut job there, 99.9% percent would strongly lean Republican and blame the Democrats for all our current ills. They'll make noise about being independent and all that, but the bottom line is they hate the fact Pres. Obama is in the White House and everything he stands for. Look at some of the signs. If Beck and that noted scholar Sarah Palin are involved you know which direction this went. I'm surprised the Foxies didn't cover it live. It's a travesty!

We're with you.
And we don't like Beck's attempt to re-define civil rights away from the deprived either.
What happened today is the same, in essence, as the argument put forth by GW Bush in Bush V. Gore, that the man from Texas would suffer irreparable harm if the Florida recount was to continue.
It was a misuse of the Equal Protection Clause which subverted its meaning entirely.
The rich, enfranchised man appealed for 14th Amendment protection, not of his rights, but of his privileges.
The way I see it, the participants in this rally could not distinguish between their rights and their privileges.

51. Tea Party'rs aren't Ralliers.. they are a Mob on a Bandwagon for the Rich..
the Tea Party was started by the 12th richest man in the country to protest his tax's, the bottom 80%'s taxes are lowest since the last 50 years.. Bu$h43 tax cut really only affected the richest 2.5%, Bill Gates only pays the taxes of a family making $80,000 a year.

Here’s why there is an Economic Crisis in this Country..

http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html

Financial Wealth
Top ……..1% ……..Next 19%….. Bottom 80%
2007 …..42.7% …..50.3% ………….7.0%

the richest 1% possess 6 times the financial wealth of the bottom 80% Americans who also hold 74% of debt..
this is a symptom of Fascism.. the rich rigging the government to enrich them and screw us.. they didn’t get their wealth fairly. this is what the Tea Party should be protesting.. wealth redistribution thru campaign contributions..
1/2 the national debt is caused by a 2.5% tax cut to the richest 1.5% Americans the other half is caused by them sending our jobs overseas to get even richer.. this was done only to destroy SSI for the elderly who paid their taxes all their lives… wake the hell up.!!

What is being done here today by Glenn Beck and his legions of morons is a sick travesty. It's a mockery of what Dr. King have stood for. I'm all for the First Amendment but this is greatly disrespectful to those who sacrificed greatly to enjoy all of our freedoms today. Instead of worrying about whether an Islamic Cultural Center/mosque should be placed two blocks from the World Trade Center site we should be worrying about Beck's mockery/desecration of Dr. King's march on Washington and the "I Have a Dream Speech".

60. this from yahoo about Alveda
Throughout her career King has courted controversy as an advocate for the pro-life movement. After having two abortions herself, King began speaking publicly, often at college campuses, about abortion issues. In 1996 she publicly condemned her aunt Coretta Scott King's support of abortion rights.

Earlier this month King grabbed headlines when she equated gay marriage with genocide.

"It is statistically proven that the strongest institution that guarantees procreation and continuity of the generations is marriage between one man and one woman," King said at an Atlanta rally. "We don't want genocide. We don't want to destroy the sacred institution of marriage."

62. Well then
I had not heard about her comments regarding gays. I knew that she was a conservative, but I had always thought she was at least a moderate conservative or at least somebody with a clue. But I guess not.
