2.  "She Can't Shut up"
That is what is so great about her. And the Rev and advocate held their own too. Thanks for posting this, I had missed the show. The truth is, his own policies drove that man in to being forced to troll bathrooms for sex. And we should quit calling him gay, he is obviously Bi!

She wouldn't shut up ... which is exactly what the RWers have always done when a Dem tries to make a point. She talked over him the way they talk over everyone else. She beat him at his own game ... and he didn't like it one bit.

A few times she has gotten callers points wrong in my opinion and at those times I wish she would shut up for a second and let them finish. And she did say we could have won the Iraq war which I do disagree with. But that is it. Go Randi and never shut up!

4. Frankly, they should all just shut up and listen to Randi.
She's always on the mark, that one. Coherent, wise, and fed up.

Like we all should be.

Lars Larson is a liar. Republicans have purposefully stalled Jefferson's case so they can keep it in the limelight longer -- it's THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE to rebut the endless stream of creepy psychotic right-wing crime. They need it.

Gosh, a Republican, lying --

10. Did anyone notice that Larson...
...managed to paint himself into a corner where he was presenting the argument liberals have been pushing for years -- that homosexuality and same-sex marriage have nothing to do with "perverted sex," pedophilia, and the like?

I mention this because it's the exact opposite of the usual Publican/fundie "scare voters with the Big Bad Homos" gambit, wherein any attempt to end discrimination will inevitably lead to Our Precious, Innocent Children being "recruited" by marauding gangs of gays seeking "fresh meat," and tolerance for gay sex in public parks?

Good move making your opponent's points for them, Lars!

22. What is the background of the guy in the upper right-hand box?
Does he really think that anybody will believe that gay men don't troll for sex in public bathrooms? I think no one benefits from this kind of spin. Randi got it right. If these right-wingers came out of the closet and were honest about their sexual preferences and stopped using their political clout to push agendas that hide what apparently comes naturally to them, then we'd have less of these solicitations in public places. People would just go get a room and not worry about the paper trail.

i think it is wrong to lump all GOP Republicans into this "right-wing conservative religous" hypocrit category-- it is not fair at all!!!!
there are right-wing conservative sexual hypocrits
there are right-wing conservative bigot hypocrits
there are right-wing conservative outsourcing job hypocrits
there are right-wing conservative gay hypocrits
there are right-wing conservative cheap labor hypocrits

I was checking out CRAIG'S LUST... and found this quote from the movie ANDY GUMP...

Anyway, like I was sayin', Craig is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue him, boil him, broil him, bake him, sautee him. Dey's uh, Craig-ka-Bobs, craig creole, craig jumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple craig, lemon craig, coconut craig, pepper craig, craig soup, craig Stu, craig salad, craig and potatoes, craig burger, craig sandwich. That- that's about it.

27. Larson tries to throw William Jefferson into the mix
but the analogy is lame. Jefferson hasn't gone in front of a judge and pled guilty. Craig is a lying hypocrite who tried to cover up his bust. He spoke and voted for policies that deny equal rights to gays, while trolling for boys in public bathrooms.

The R's hitched their wagon to the fundies, to gain that voting block. Repeated evidence that many Repug leaders behave contradictorily to the fundie agenda exposes the hypocrisy of the modern Repug party. Just like they want to claim they are fiscally conservative, the truth is the opposite.

Craig should resign, and the Repugs should disavow their hateful anti-gay agenda. America would be the better for it.

and I wish people would stop saying Foley is a pedophile - being attracted to those almost legal teenage boys does not make him a pedophile - Foley is a gay man attracted to younger men not children.....

My thought overall was that Randi did well. With the majority on her side, points were well made. She does have the habit of going on and on though. So much that you can't hear anyone else at times. Mathis was quick, funny and to the point as usual. He'd be a dream dinner companion. Wouldn't he?

This piece of pudgy white trash comes from my home town, and I'm embarrassed to see or listen to his twisted face and logic.
Randi did a real job on him, and yes, she beat him at his own game. I tip my hat to Randi, even though she sometimes seems to fill my cup a little too quickly with her ranting.
Looks like pudgy lars has put on about 60 pounds since I saw him last. That's what that good life in the neocon world will do for you. He certainly is the biggest PIG from Portland that I can think of. "The Nazi from the left coast" should be his slogan. Forget that "right" crap.

38. Judge Young was disappointing
As a gay man, I found his myopic attention to hypocrisy to be disconcerting. Sure, Craig is a man who legislates hatred against himself and went out to do the same things he fought against. Yet, why he should be more villified because of hypocrisy than a straight legislator attacking our pursuit of happiness makes no sense to me. Both types of people are just as dangerous.

Yes, he is a hypocrite, but as Randi pointed out, it is the culture of hatred within the Republican Party that contributes to the "need" for people like Senator Craig and Congressman Allen to have to look for anonymous sex in public places. Would Craig assume his stance on homosexuality if Republicans didn't? Maybe, but he also might not even discuss the issue at all, relieving him of hypocrisy. Outside of their bigotry, I cannot understand why anyone would want to be a republican, but Craig did. Unfortunately, his tenure required homophobia. So, hypocrite he became.

41. Typical Conservative Myopia
Lars, it would seem, falls victim stereotypical conservative short-sightedness. To him, the sexual forays of his fellow conservatives are isolated cases which were caused by the perpetrators' internal failings. Any psychologist will tell you this sort of shit happens when people are unwilling or otherwise incapable of expressing their desires publicly. Sexual repression breeds all sorts of intriguing behaviors. Just look at Jeffry Dahmer. However, it is conservative canon to assume people commit crimes through a rational evaluation of risk versus benefit, a concept which has been discredited again and again since its inception in the early 1700s.

It is the conservative taboo on sex that creates the pressures which drive men and women into deviance. History is littered with examples. Mark Kay Letourneau, who served time for bearing the children of her 13 year old student, is the daughter of former arch-conservative congressman John G. Schmitz, who was, ironically, an adulterer as well. Evangelical Ted Haggard, who solicited sex and drugs from a male prostitute, has always been fixated on the morality of sex. He caused an uproar in his home town for distributing pamphlets that described, in detail, what to do about STDs and pregnancies. Also, let us not forget the sexcapades of Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart. Mark Foley's repressed sexuality surfaced as pedophilia... very nice, indeed. There simply isn't enough space here to list all of the Catholic priests who have released their sexual urges through "uncleane occurrences".

Randi Rhodes is more or less correct, which makes Lars essentially wrong. The GOP operates around the rule that you cannot be homosexual and conservative. Think of the effect this has on young kids who find themselves attracted to William F. Buckley... in more ways than one. They repress those feelings of attraction to the opposite sex and, as a defense mechanism against its discovery, they become the most virulently anti-gay politicians, so no one will suspect them. Obviously, these guys can't peruse the boulevard and pick up a respectable homosexual with whom to shack up, so when they do act on their desires it invariably involves the disenfranchised or the easily discredited, i.e., children, or prostitutes. If they had just been able to be themselves without fear of judgment, I daresay none of this crap would have ever taken place. Instead, they were forced to deny who they were to satisfy their political convictions, and as a result could not express their sexual desires through an appropriate vector. Thus, the bathroom stall, the prostitutes, the children, the drugs. It is a sad state of affairs, but I don't see it changing any time soon.

43. Regarding these scandals...
We should try to avoid cheering to much when someone crashes and burns like this; it doesn't reflect too well on us...

But Randi is so right in seeing right wing's sexual politics as
completely untenable and fraudulent. We need to redefine the terms of our
moral stances, and throw out the phrase "family values" or radically redefine it.

It is just not acceptable to allow homophobes and bigots to use this old disguise to
capture the votes of the fearful and ignorant.
