1. Contributions increasing...
Edited on Sun Oct-03-10 11:49 PM by LandR
I have been following this topic closely and I found for the month of September, expenses for "electioneering communications" was 288.5% more than the September of the previous midterm cycle in 2006. The way big money is doing this is through 527 organizations, as well as 501(c)(4) groups, as Peter Stone mentioned in the video. The average expense for an electioneering communication has also increased in 2010, as well as the number of organizations making such expenses. I would agree with Stone that Citizens United poses a challenge to democracy because it gives the wealthy an out-sized voice.

2. To an informed political observer this is
Blatant Fascism (corporate control of our government).
To the average, tee vee watching public, this is just a lot of citizens, organizing at the grassroots level, informing us of how much better the repubs are at running our nation.
Honestly, the average (pre-occupied with surviving) American, doesn't know about the C.U. decision by the (very corrupt) SCOTUS. They really believe that these corporate "front groups" are citizen created, "grass roots" organizations, that are informing them that the reason their lives are so hard, is because of the Democrats in office.
After two years of neo-con (corporate) MSM lies and distortions, there still has been no attempt by the majority party to (at the very least) Restore the Fairness Doctrine.
All that would do is Restore honesty and disclosure to our media.
Don't Americans even deserve that?
This "issue" should not be a partisan one.
Don't both parties (publicly) endorse honesty?
