5. Let's stick to the facts: The means of collecting was illegitimate. The claims were not.
This was not "scamming someone out of their money". The people who this deception was used on actually owed the money. Yes, impersonation is illegal and there should be punishment. But it also makes one wonder why they weren't able to collect the debt through legitimate channels.

so really for whatever reason they have *not* paid and there are a million stories out there for why they couldnt pay the fact is there are laws on collection and fake courts is intimidation. Which is illegal.

8. How do you know the claims were legitimate?
Supposedly valid creditor claims get thrown out of court all the time. Then collection is a second issue. A court decides which assets can be seized by the creditor.

9. The video said something about credit card information.
I was assuming the person owed X and they withdrew X. If that is not what happened then I stand corrected.

7. DEBT COLLECTION SCAM. Sounds like a republican dream come true.
A court of law decides if the debts are valid, not the creditor. For example, there are statues of limitations on debts. Was it a properly executed contract, etc. The creditor must file a lawsuit, and then prove his case, all of which costs big money.

Secondly, even in the creditor is able the prove the debts are valid, all they creditor gets is a creditor's judgment. Then the creditor has to go about proving the debtor has the resources to make payment, and then go to court again to take possession of assets such as stocks, bank accounts, etc.

All in all, a long and costly process. Only worth pursuing if you know the debtor has the resources to pay the debt and the court costs.
