Mike Papantonio and Ed Schultz discuss the recent revelations made public by Wikileaks, and why this information is vital to our democracy.

But we do not, and a free press IS vital to a Democracy. Since we have failed to properly monitor our own government, it has become necessary for others to do so.

The same goes for our failure to prosecute war criminals. Spain, which has jurisdiction over some international crimes, was preparing to prosecute a few of our torturers while Bush was in office, knowing that it would not happen here. When Obama was elected, the Spanish court said it would hold off on the prosecutions as there was now hope that the U.S. would deal with its own war criminals. Sadly it didn't take long for the Obama administration to announce to the world that we would not be holding anyone accountable, we would be moving on.

When a country fails to take care of its own business, someone else will step in when that business concerns other nations.

All Wikileaks is now, is a substitute for a free press in this country. I don't know why people on the left at least, are not thrilled to see this development. The MIC controlled our press, but they cannot control the world press, at least not yet. And that's a good thing.

"If we had called out the NYT and Judith Miller and said "you are lying" thousands of lives would have been spared....
