1. I have to say he has a fantastic voice. His lies sound really strong and fantastic.
Bush had the whiny voice of a drunken idiot. Obama really has a voice worthy of the imperial policy he's coming to represent.

needs to appear tough (or soft) on anyone.

They are always a victim of circumstances - as in "Oh! Noes! I cannot tip my hand and say what I wanna say about the Health Care Reform efforts - that would be a violation of the Separation of Powers."

Of course when people found out about all the back room deals Rahm was making with Big Pharma and Big Insurers, for wahever reason the President didn't consider those activities as much of a violation (?!?!?!)

We have watched for two years as the Democratic majorities in the House and the Senate and the Democratic occupant in the Oval Office did everything possible to destroy the mandated energy
given to them by the 62% victory received on November 4th 2008.

And as we read Matt Taibbi's account of Harry Reid backing away (and even running away) from Democrats in the Senate who wanted a tough Financial Reform Act, and then see Reid befriending Big Time the Republicans who watered the Bill down, we understand how Kabuki-ish this all has been.

3. "I'd be happy to have Republicans test me..."
What he means is test me AGAIN, because I just failed the first test. He should change his name to President Do-Over.

5. It reminds me of Monday night....

After the Patriots completely handed the Jets their asses in a 45-3 butt-whooping, at the post game press conference, the Jets head coach says, "I'll play them anytime, Hell, I'll go play them in the parking lot right now". Apparently oblivious to the fact that he just got his ass handed to him in historic proportions. Much like Obama just did on the tax cuts.

Edited to add: the quote is a paraphrase, and not word for word, but pretty darned close.

4. For us on the left
I think one of things we need, since we can't get rid of Obama, but won't get is to put somebody in Harry Reid's position that is a real fighter (how about Bernie Sanders?). Our problem is we don't have a fighter in the White House and we have even more of a milquetoast leading the Senate. A really bad combination. The more I see and hear of Obama the more he seems to act like he is still in the Senate (not in a leadership position) and is trying to get support for some piece of legislation he wants to present in the Senate. Mr. Obama you are no longer a colleague of these people you are the President of the United States, ACT LIKE IT!

As long as I am on a rant another peeve I have. You have the Republicans on one side that for over 30 years have been telling us 'we want it our way or no way. 100% conservative Republican ideas or nothing and we don't care who what we hurt in the process'. Hey I may not agree with 'em but they are definitely fighters. Then we have the 'conservative/centrist' wing of the Democratic party telling us on the left 'oh come on now you should be happy with whatever little concession you can get from the Republicans because that's all we can ever hope to get. We'll get more later just trust us'. The fact is I don't trust them and have seen no real signs that we 'will get more later' all we get later is more 'that's all we could get' crap. To me this is just a slow slide to the Republicans getting everything they want. When Republican's give a supposed concession all it means as they we put up with whatever the concession is in the short term until they can figure out a way to take it back in the future. For example, the current extension of the lapsing tax breaks. When passed part of the carrot that got it passed was that it was temporary and if the economy went bad it would be rescinded. The Republicans never in a million years intended to live with that agreement their plan all along was to use the ending of the break as an interim election ploy (frameing it as Democrats raising YOUR taxes) and when they got back in power they always intended to make it permanent. They didn't get both the house and Senate but with Obama pretty much ignoring the Democrats in the House and on the Left it didn't really matter because there is nobody to stand up to them. When will Obama learn that you can't trust the Republicans. They don't care if you point out their hypocrisy. Hell, they wear their hypocrisy as a badge of honor. Mr. Obama remember when ever you think you are compromising with the Republicans that they don't ever compromise they just take a small step back before continuing with instituting 100% or their plans for this country ... uh.. I mean their plans for the wealthy in this country.
