4. No disrespect, but the Ambassador and General addressed the al Quida issue as effectively as if they
coterminously had their respective thumbs stuck up the respective asses and it was very uncomfortable. To their credit, minions cannot possibly articulate an incoherent, preposterous, idiotic, insane policy which is inherently flawed and fatal, but to feign ignorance in matters most reasonably informed people know and understand is disingenuous at best.

6. Patreaeus answered the questions well, also.
He pointed out correctly, that his only responsibility and focus is on the military aspect of the Iraq occupation, nothing more. The rest of the responsibility, including the responsibility for the "myopia," rests with the President, not Patraeus.

Patraeus is doing the best he can to make the best of a failed policy, but he only is in control of one small aspect of the overall policy.

9. Only someone overly ambitious to please or someone incompetent would permit . . . .
themselves to be so limited in conducting a war in Iraq. Of course you would have to be aware of the situation from a higher perspective in order to be effective.

And, of course, Petraeus is fully aware of the political implications and his responsibility to make Bushco look good.

11. He's not limited in "conducting the war"
He's simply not responsible for the lack of diplomatic and political initiative in the region coming from the administration. He has horrible support, but he's doing good job, given that lack of support.

It's not his place to make policy, period. I do not believe he is being "limited' in how he conducts military operations.

14. Did you read what Fallon said of Petraeus -- ??? I think that seals it -- !!!
If you have to live in a box and can't think outside of it then you are limited in whatever it is that you are working on.

For instance, he obviously knows that Bushco has condoned torture --
therefore, what kind of a person is Petraeus?

Not all of us get to "make policy" . . . but all of us have to answer to our own conscience.

8. They cut out the most important part of that exchange..
an absolutely brilliant response by Feingold. Petraeus is saying that we went on the offensive at the beginning of the surge (he really put his foot in it) and Feingold responded that (paraphrased)since we INVADED Iraq we were, by definition, on the offensive from the beginning, being the invading army and all. Sweeet!! I heard this exchange on NPR or something.

Petraeus, even with all that hardware on his chest is nothing but a two-bit tool for the Bushies.

Contemptible asswipe! :puke:

12. Frankly, I am not impressed with Betrayus.
He is not as intelligent as I had expected. He does not live up to his reputation.

13. This was a great moment in the hearings when Feingold began to press
...for answers.

The other great moment was when Barrack Obama came on and the third great moment was when Hillary showed her capabilities to press for hard answers. I'd really like to see those two excerpts from yesterdays hearings again also.

Thanks for posting :hi:
