14. Wow! EFerrari, you said it.
I stopped watching Larry King when he started focusing on crime cases.

When did Larry King ever go beyond the most superficial layer of the very surface of any issue or problem.

Hello, Mr. President. Nice tie you've got there. How's the wife? And the kids? Well, happy to hear that. And how are things going for you over there in Iraq. Killed any kids lately? Some war, huh? Heh, heh, heh.

20. I really can't stomach Larry King
Edited on Mon Dec-27-10 06:33 PM by howaboutme
He has always been an arrogant media SOB with more than a handful of young beautiful wives and a fixation on the Hollywood entertainment community (just like Barbara Walters), most of which are extraordinarily rich and self righteous, but few if any have ever contributed an ounce of anything of worth to our USA society at large.

IMO none of the above makes him an SOB, but the encompassing and consistent displayed agenda that benefits only those that have, over those who don't - does. He focuses on the haves, not the HAVE NOTS.

BUT all said - I have a difficult time empathizing with any of the fire and brimstone platitudes that the overpaid media pundits, whether it be left or right, Maddow or Hannity, etc. give us.

They are overpaid entertainers, AND they believe the sheeple are too ignorant to think for themselves and that should piss us off.

I don't watch them! I make an effort to read and think for myself, and will never ever waste my time watching or listening to these Hollywood media types who receive more compensation in a week as entertainers than most productive Americans do in a year. I will never support them. Y

24. I think you give
Larry King way too much credit. This is not an intelligent man. He would be just as comfortable and confident being a game show host. He really isn't one to listen to unless you're into DWTS or some crap like that.

32. I wonder whether Larry King saw Maddow's interview with Murkowski
It was very fair and put Murkowski in a positive light. Murkowski should allow herself to be interviewed by Maddow every chance she gets. Maddow appreciates intelligent people. Larry King would not understand that.

28. Always consider the source.
Larry was to journalism what the Pope is to sex. Doesn't know anything about it, but has a lot to say about it.

2. Agree - their mission as talking heads is to incite and inflame
which is exactly the same as fire and brimstone preachers.

Society as a whole needs to arrive at their own conclusions and opinions by using raw data, logic, beliefs, and brainpower, and not by those who get paid very well to fan the flames.

Read, analyze and form your own opinions.

15. Rachel Maddow provides facts and uses logic and brainpower.
She is extremely well educated. It's her job to counter the trash that Glenn Beck and others at Fox put on the news. If she were opposite Edward R. Murrow, she would have a different show, and it would be as excellent as the show she now has.

You have to fight fire with fire sometimes. Thank God for Rachel Maddow.

That's why I like her. My decisions are driven by facts... Maddow provides them quite nicely.

3. Completely off base.
Maddow's "opinion" is fact based, Hannity is based on horseshit.
Sorry Larry, you're off base on this one.

4. From a man who over-stayed his relevancy -- & I'm being kind using that word -- by 20 years.
Retirement seems to automatically qualify him as an expert? His qualifications for sage advice should be limited to shows like "Entertainment Tonight" only.

17. Couldn’t agree more.
Seems to be a running trend with CNN.

I guess, in CNN’s book, someone who likes high-priced hookers is ALSO an “expert,” and possesses the credentials to be a primetime co-anchor.

23. Was that supposed to be a rip on Spitzer?
Spitzer is infinitely more intelligent than 99% of the anchors on cable news. He's an expert because he has spent his life fighting for the people against corrupt financial institutions. The show is a failure because Kathleen Parker is a fucking dumb-ass and gets intellectually demolished by Spitzer on every show, its painful to watch.

25. I guess you’re right.
He’s a brilliant man. I enjoyed having him as my governor, for the short time he WAS in office.

And is the show really that bad? I’ve never watched it. It’s in Countdown’s timeslot, so unless the second coming of Jesus is being broadcast live on another channel, I’m not missing countdown.

31. Spitzer was the victim of the investment class.
They were furious at Spitzer because he was on to their fraudulent game.

Note that his transactions with the prostitute were discovered by a review of his personal bank accounts. Our friends on Wall Street once again outing whom they please.

I assure you that if you knew how much of the money that supports the hookers' profession comes from the fat cats who own the banks, manage the retirement funds of ordinary people and do the big-time Wall Street deals, you would be laughing at Spitzer's contribution to the hookers' retirement funds.

5. This from the lamest interview show ever!
Edited on Mon Dec-27-10 02:50 PM by AlbertCat
Get off the air, Larry....

They are both indeed "very good at what they do".... which is not the same thing.
Hannity carries water for the GOP and will lie about anything with a straight face.
Rachel does NOT carry water for anybody that I can see, her opinions are her own and based on facts, not a memo from Roger Ailes.

The interviewer sets up a false equivalency and the two just run with it.

Lame.

Like the Larry King interviews were.

6. Ratings driven claptrap
These guys are just jealous that their network is in last place. Besides, Rachael Maddow speaks to fact, while Hannity speaks to the lowest common denominator when it comes to his audience of morons. Kurtz wishes he had the kind of ratings Fox and MSNBC have. And Larry King wishes he was still relevant.

18. At times, the editorializing of news becomes necessary.
And The Rachel Maddow Show is TEN TIMES as informative, engaging, and RELEVANT as Larry King Live.

I’m sure Hannity can be informative at times too (in the same way as a snickers bar can be healthy at times).

Maddow and Hannity may be preachers, but Larry King is a zombie.

21. I'm still more than slightly
nauseated from all the references to King (at his recent retirement) as a "legend" of broadcasting. I guess the bar for "legends" has really been lowered right down to the floor. Somewhere Ed Murrow is weeping or puking. But then again we live in a world where The Kardashian sisters, Mike ("The Situation") Sorrentino, and a host of other non-talents are "stars" with their own TV shows.

22. Maddow vs Hannity
Talk about a false comparison.

Hannity does right wing corporate friendly propaganda and Rachel does journalism.

Also, I think Rachel spends a lot of her time off camera LEARNING HER SUBJECTS and then presenting her knowledge to us during the show. Why is it so good that the host learn while the show is on?
