Now, is President Obama a Native American? This is the new conspiracy. We now have conflicting conspiracies going on. Apparently, Barack Obama wants to turn the country over to Native Americans. No longer is he a Muslim. And Louis loves this story, because Louis is half... oh, you're not really half-Muslim. Half your family is from Iran.
Louis: Right.
David: And they're not really practicing Muslims. Now Obama's a secret Native American, right? And here, if you say to me, "Well, hold on a second. A Native American? How could anybody think that?" here's why the new, instead of birthers, what would we call these?
Louis: Good question, I don't know.
David: The nativers. The nativers say, listen, number one, Barack Obama had to sign a United Nations declaration of the rights of indigenous people. Bush refused to sign it. Of course, Bush probably just mistook it for being, instead of indigenous people, ingenuous people, and he said, "No, no, no, no, no. I don't want rights for ingenuous people." Anyway, whatever reason Bush didn't sign it, it basically just says, "Indigenous people are cool." It's non-binding, it's a UN thing, OK? Obama signed that. And Obama was also given honorary status by a tribe of Native Americans, OK?
So this is the case that the nativers are building. He signed a non-binding treaty saying Native Americans are good people, and then one tribe gave him honorary status. Obviously, Louis, it's because there's a secret pact to give all the land back to Native Americans. That's the only logical conclusion.
Louis: And is this really what people are saying?
David: The nativers are. Our friend Bryan Fischer from the American Family Association, he's the one who explained to me that the rectal wall is only one cell thick, it's the biggest cell in the body, obviously, it's just one cell thick. Paraphrasing, he says Obama wants to give the whole U.S. back to the Indians. He wants them to be our new overlords. He will be the new chief, and will be the leader of the country. I thought Obama was already the leader of the country. Why would he need to give all the land back to Native Americans to be the leader of the country? He's already there.
Louis: I'm confused.
David: WorldNetDaily is absolutely loving it. They ran a headline, "Obama To Give Manhattan Back to Native Americans?" Now, here's what I'm wondering. Aren't the Republicans the ones trying to deny 9/11 first responders money to keep foreign corporation donations going to other countries? Or, rather, keep the foreign corporations happy with the tax loophole? But now the story is Obama's giving the country to Native Americans. What about a serious discussion of policies that actually are turning over jobs, money, to other countries? No, the concern is Obama's giving the country to Native Americans.
The funniest part of this, and we'll get on to the really serious part, the funniest part of this is that the theories conflict, right? The birther theory and the nativer theory conflict.
Louis: Right. These people can't possibly be working together.
David: They can't, right. Obama is a foreign Muslim, his loyalties are to other countries. That's theory number one. Tons of people believe it. Fox News actually covers it like it's a legitimate story. Wait a second, now he's a Native American, so his loyalty is to the people that were in America before the Europeans even came over and took their land. Direct conflict.
Now, the story itself you could argue doesn't require countering, but the fact that conservatives are so unhinged to the point that they will float conflicting conspiracy theories is incredible, right? I mean, what's the common thread here, Louis? Both of these theories revolve around Barack Obama's name and his skin color. Don't be confused. Some people say racism is over now, because Obama was elected. He might be Muslim, because his name's Barack Hussein Obama, and his skin's dark. Or he might be Native American, and that could be because he's, also, a person of color, right? That is the thread here. And if you're missing that thread, well, I don't know what to tell you.
The poll on www.DavidPakman.com, which Obama conspiracy theory is most likely to get off the ground next, Obama helped plan or knew about 9/11, Obama is a spy for a foreign nation, Obama is Jewish, which, by itself, as we know, is a bad thing, in many cases. Which of these conspiracy theories is most likely to get off the ground next? What do you think, Louis?
Louis: Well, the spy for a foreign nation one, the Manchurian candidate one has been around for a while. Seems to be the most popular.
David: It's not... it hasn't actually become the forefront.
Louis: Right.
David: That he is actually a spy employed by a foreign nation. We'll see. You have to assume this is... the nativers are not the end of Obama conspiracy theories.
Louis: Oh, no.
David: Do we want to do the next story, or should we break?
Louis: Let's take a break.
David: We'll take a break, we'll come back, we'll talk to Ana Kasparian from The Young Turks. There's a lot more to talk about, so stay tuned.
